Crankwalk means a rebuild, I don't know if you can get away with just trying to replace the bearings.

Maybe if you caught your car in the very earliest stage of crankwalk you could get away with just replacing the bearings...what other parts are replaced in the rebuild besides the bearings?

well all that i know is that their is a ticking noise when i push the clutch in and its located in the front right corner of the engine. i have had no other problems that are associated with crank walk which is wierd i guess. does this mean it is at an early stage or what>?

One way to check for crankwalk (mind you, this is what I have been told, dont quote me) is to take your car to an empty parking lot, put it in reverse, and turn the wheel all the way to the left and see whether or not the clutch sticks. If it sticks, supposedly it's walked, or is almost walked. If anyone can confirm that this is a reliable way of checking for CW without dropping the oil pan, then please let me know!

Thats the most bizzare test for CW I have ever heard :D I had 3 motors crankwalk, never saw felt or heard anything unusual in the clutch. Go to the DSM section at www.racingknowledge.com and look for the sticky on crankwalk. I put tons of info in there, how to test, etc.

Replacing the thrust bearing will not remove whatever caused the bearing to fail in the first place, for what its worth ;)
