Change of pace - Kustom 40 & 49 Merc's

Taking a break for tuners for a short while as I'm waiting for some stuff to arrive from HLJ and fancied a change - I've always had a soft spot for leadsleds & had these resin bodies lying about for awhile so thought I might as well do something with them.

The 40 Ford is the Jimmy Flintstone Matranga Merc - just going to be it kerbside. Haven't decided on a colour yet but may use left over Nissan Midnight Purple.

I honestly can't remember who the chopped 49 is by - grille will be a simple floating bar and teardrop skirts are from Replicas & Minatures as are the Lancer hubcaps (I think). Will be kerbside as I can't be bothered to build an engine for it ! - not sure on colour yet perhaps two tone split by the Buick trim.
Thanks for looking

Managed to get some Midnight purple & clearcoat on the 40 today - IMO a dark colour suits it better than a light one. Grille has been sprayed with Alclad chrome.

Hope to get some paint on the 49 tomorrow - weather permitting.

I don't think theres a website but he occasionaly advertises in Model Cars Magazine - address is PO Box 371, Hales Corners, WI 53130. USA.
Phone 414 425 9592 - I know he accepts credit card payments and ships outside the US.The Matranga Merc was $15.00 plus shipping.
Hope above helps

Thanks for the comments guys - decided to keep things simple and go with just two solid colours (Ford Olympic Blue/white)-can't spray the white until the blue has fully dried.

That's his under-construction website, GVE. Best thing that it does is give you an address where you can mail $5 to so you can get a catalog.
And Andy, those are a pair of wicked Merc's. That baby blue you're painting the '49 in will go extremely well with the white cove. And you could drown in that purple on the '40.
And just in case you're interested.....

Just some pictures of two of the clones that have been built. The black one "Stardust" was built in the 50's by Barris for another customer who liked Matranga's car (which had been totalled in a wreck) and the red one was built for the Petersen Automotive Museum where it currently resides.

Nice mercs Andy. I was hoping to see purple on the 49, but it looks swell on the 40. The blue and white should go very nicely, and that chopped top looks great!
