Hi Folks,
Great site! I just logged on for the 1st time today. Background, I bought my 1997 LT in July 1998 with 15,000 miles on it. It now has
116,000 on it and has a little rough idle problem. I have taken very good care of my truck. I have fed it Mobil 1 and and it doesn't burn a drop of oil. I have had my problems with it, haven't we all? I used to average 11,000 miles a year on it until 9-11-01. I worked across the street and my building was damaged, my desk faced the WTC and I saw the planes hit. Ran for my life and am still here, obviously. I was relocated to New Hampshire for 2 1/2 months and then my company got space near Giant's Stadium in Northern NJ. I drove 150 miles per day round trip for 11 months and experienced my share of problems. 4WD switch, mass air flow sensor. Took the dealer 2 hours of labor to figure that out.(jerkies)
Participated in the wiper motor and upper ball joint recalls. I averaged 22MPG @ 70 MPH, not bad. I like a little performance and have a K&N air filter and have a HyperTech programer. It pulls great in mid-range. I have had problems with the infamous SES light. Plugs, wires have been changed. Added Seafoam today to see if that will clear the injectors. I get a P0300 code. Chevy, in its infinite wisdom, uses this generic code to cover problems with spark plugs, wires, injectors, and EGR system. I saw on the forum that the EGR can be cleaned. I ordered a gasket today and am going to try cleaning it. I haven't changed the ignition cap and rotor yet, but it seems cheap enough to try. I can get a new GM-Delco EGR for $100.00, no kidding. I have friend who is an GM-Delco parts salesman. My gas mileage is lower now, probably because I like the power that the programmer provides. (blows away Ford F-150's). Please give me some ideas on how to get rid of the SES light. Thanks for listening.

I was in Merrimack. Love NH. Love the motto Live Free or Die! My favorite restaurant was the Lobster Boat. Fried Lobster and Lazy Lobster are outrageous!

Billp58 here. I finally got it fixed, I hope correctly. The fuel pressure regulator went bad and was fouling the plugs. They also replaced the plugs, wires, dist cap, and rotor. Seems to be running okay. I hope for 200,000 miles out of it. In about 2-3 years I will turn it over to my teenage son unless I wreck it or it blows up.
