the reason im wondering is becuase about a weekago my dsm got sick. i was lettin it warm up on a hot day and all of a sudden i heard pressure release from somewhere then my boost gauge dropped to 0. i drove off and after 100 ft or so the needle went back up. (stock gauge). after than terrible experience my car doesnt seem to be as fast as it normally was. i heard my stock turbo spool up but cant really feel it. sometimes when i step on it maby 1out of 10 times it hauls ass but the other times its like im drivin a gs. i think maby my bov is broken(its 2g stock too) and all half of the air its making goes straight threw my bov dump tube. or my wastegate solinode or however you spell it is broke. i made that intercooler leak tester and filled it up at the turbo and it would hold aobut 5 psi then the air would just leave someplace i think about of my intake that feeds the turbo normally but it was off for the tester. if i tried to fill it up to even 10 psi i couldnt because it left threw the dump tube so fast. anyway does this mean my bov is broke or my wg solinode. i have a hayes book and it tells me how to test them but i dont have the tool needed to test them. long story and it sucks but i hope you guys are nice enoguht to read all this shit. thanks - dsmodder

So you have a boost leak... use some soapy water and figure out where it's at, fix it, and see if it helps.
The stock 2g BOV does leak, so if you want to upgrade once and for all, get a 1g BOV and an adapter, or a hard intercooler pipe with a 1g flange, which is a very good upgrade as well.

the thing is im sellin my gst for a gsx soon so i dont want to put money into it. also its not leakin threw the dump tube or the bov cuz i just tested it agian with tissue paper and its not leakin near them. i think it might be the throttle body but i dont know ill try soapy water tomorrow thanks for the help joe

Yes, soapy water is the way to go. But a quick note, real big leaks sometimes dont make bubbles because they blow all the water out of the leak. So feel around everywhere with your hand too. Make sure the compressor youre using is off at the time to you cna hear.

soapy water saved the day. found it at my thorttle body gasket. the first one. im replacing both of them now the front and back one. hopefully thats it but i swear i can hear it around my bov too. i drove a gst cuz i work at a toyota dealership and they got one in and it hauled ass compared to mine. it was stock. the leak is pretty bad i guess and hopfully thats the only one. oh and i stole the bov off the newer gst so its not leakin at my bov. haha

the BOV is another place leaks end up, so it may not be the BOV itself, but a leak in that vicinity... also check your intercooler connections. and the stock 'boost gauge' [if you want to call it that] isn't worth a shit...

if it bubbles there is a leak... or like Kevin said.. it might just blow away the water!

where would it leak for the boost gauge. becuase my stock boost gauge is fucked up i think. it never touches any lines. i mean if its idling the pos needle sits like a cm above the second "low" line and when im runnin full throttle it goes like a cm below the second "high" line. im not talkin about the plus or negative lines im talking about the ones before them. could somebody tell me where the boost guage line is at?

The stock boost guage is NOT a boost guage. The ECU jsut looks at airflow, makes some estimation, and puts the needle there. Thats why a real boost guage should be everyones first mod. ;)

yeah... what's with the leakin. today i just found out that my tranny was leaking fluid, not a very obvious leak. one of those slow and deadly.

You should expect some leaks, DSM aren't otherwise known as POS's for no reason =)
