engine sideways?

what year did they start turning the engine from manfiolds to the sides of the cars to manifolds to front and back of the car> just curious...anyone know why they put the engines like this? it is not like this on all the 240's is it?

too funny, too bad you had to compare it with a honda tho, vtec rocks anyway. hey celica kid, the reason the motors are turned like that is cuz the honda is front wheel drive, and the nissan is rear
