Need some help! My power windows on my 2D Grand Am '01 dont stay up. It seems like the motors work fine but I was rolling down my window once and it just fell all the way down and wont stay up. It looks like this little plastic thing that was holding it up broke. Any idea what this thing is or if I have to buy the whole thing together? If so what is it called and where can i find it? Thanks

ive seen the little clips glued to the window glass dry rot and crack. im not sure if they sell them at auto parts stors but i cant see why the wouldnt. they allow the regulator to attach to the glass and hold it in place. sounds like your problem. just take the door panel off and inspect the bottom of the window glass and the regulator to see what is cracked. the hardest thing to find is the glue but a window or windshield repair shop should sell it. good luck

We had this problem with my daughter's Grand Am. Right passenger door just fell down! Turned out it was the motor (clips were cracked too). the part at the dealer was $$ but we found an aftermarket part online through A-1 Electric. Look for Power Window Switch. You get the entire kit for a lot less....

Same thing happened to my 2000 Grand Am 2dr GT. The two white plastic/nylon pieces that connect between the cable and window both broke. After the Pontiac dealer said I had to buy the entire window regulator (minus motor) for $278, I tried the Chevrolet parts man. He had the pieces selling separately. However, the small nyon pieces are $40 each!!!! They probably cost about 40 cents to produce.
