Wut up Artists
Here is my Murcielago.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/35634Lamborgini-med.jpg
Trying to sketch freely.
The car is about 14 in. long.
I spent 2 hrs on it. It took me 1hr to get the lines down.
No grids no nothing, just pencils, eraser and index card.
I am drawing big because most of my cars are about that size. I drew my Saleen at about 9 in. The larger you go the harder it is to get proportions right.
My plan is to do one of these every night for a year (sketch).
My goal is to have line drawing down in about 30 minutes.
I just shaded this one for fun. I don't plan on shading many of my sketches.
I won't post all of them, either.
It just feels great to be drawing for fun. :)

ok, what do you guys mean by sketch, is it where you look at a pic and draw a car, with no grid and no tracing, or is it when you think of a car and draw it like you see it in your mind...
i never use grids, so does this mean i sketch???it still takes me long tho, i guess i should practice more

I know these symantecs can get crazy.
I am calling them sketches because I am not using grids nor tracing.
I useally draw w/ grids.
I must say it takes more skill to draw w/o grids IMHO.
Heck I don't know anymore either. :)

Hey LilGmoney,
I will do a Contach. The Contach was the car when I was growing up.
That car and the Vector
Contach it is, for tomorrow's drill.

Alfred, maybe if you stick with this you could get a single thread going for each nights sketch. Maybe sticky'd...

Hey, each of the people that sketch alot could have their own sticky! Maybe as a sort of "Award for Outstanding Contribution to AF Automotive Art"
There are quite a few people who post their drawings often. Dunno if everyone will agree, but it might be an idea.
Also, perhaps we could have a monthly competition where we all vote for the months best drawing?
Or perhaps im just getting carried away? :screwy:

Pretty cool, i sketch all the time, no grid i thinks it evolves more time and less skill in drawing, i think the other alex uses this method (grid) to make his drawings look accurate... hmm wonder how he can draw without the grid method??? anyway i stick with the good old sketching methods, speaking of which the Mclaren LM was hand drawn... no grid if it made any confusion for sum. For those who think i stopped drawing it... no i didn’t my busy life got in the way u know school, friends, so i am planning to go to the art supplies store on Sunday and hopefully start on Mclaren again, well good luck on the sketches... oh one more thing u might want to do this i tried it and it work, select an exotic car that u like and keep drawing it like 20 times or less till you have memorized every detail and then once u think you can picture the car clearly start drawing like crazy, i did this and i memorized like 3 exotic cars, now i don’t need reference for them maybe when i am doing the realistic drawing, well just a little tip anyway good luck with your sketching!!!

That's an interesting idea, but that would add another 10 or so stickys, and thats way too many. The gallery could be used for pretty much the same thing though.
