1949 Mercury Chopped and 1950 mercury chopped wild customs!!!!!!! must see!!!!

In the 1949 mercury i chopped the top about a scale 4 inches. I put in different headlight cups and filled it with body filler i shaved the door handles and side trim an i nosed and decked it. I will put in my own custom made teailights they wil resemble the 1949 baby lincoln taillights (they are round). i molded in the fron splash pan an the back splash pan i glued the trunk to the body . the interior i did original i painted it black cherry with white to make it two toned . When the car is finished it will beblack cherry with a clear coat on top of it to make it extra glossy. i need to put in a headliner yet tho it needs it to hide the chop mark from the roof .

The 1950 ford started out as a convertible . i put on the custom front extension with the extended hood i put on the custom chopped from winshield piece and i found and old roof that is about 30 years old from when my dad did models and it was a 1950 ford roof as well. i put that roof on there and now it look like a custom 1950 ford crown victorian. i will do something extremely wild with the back end too i dont want to leave it stock since i customized the front i might paint it a midnight pearl blue with a pearl white top i have no ideas for interior but it will be custom.

wut you mean lowered all the way to the ground? if that wut you mean i want to do it but i dont knoiw how to lower the suspension. if u know how tell me.

omg here's and update on the mercury... i'm not doin so hot with the suspension i'm havein so much trouble making it even and i just notcie that i have the front suspension stock instead of lowered. so i had to cut it up a lil and fix it . i dont liek doin all these modifications but if i want it to look good i have to do it . i will be making my own taillights out of styrene tubing they will be exposed but they will look frenched in. i am almost done with smoothing the chop top out

also i forgot to say that i built the engine for the 1950 ford thats the only thing built i havent started chassis or interior yet. i will start that when the mercury is done .

well i'm currently finishing up on the taillight housings. i am making them myself, all i did was just get 5/16" tube and cut two slivers of it and molded it to the body. i am now tryin to get it even with the back quarter panels so it all looks liek one piece. when that is done i am going to prime it and wet sand it and then put it in black cherry duplicolor paint . i will have pictures of it soon .then i will continue my progress on the ford . the engine for the ford is done i just need to do everything else . the body is 95% done.

o yea and i'm puttin in blue dot tail lights that i'm making all myself to resemble the 49 baby lincoln tailights

I will be building another 49 mercury and it will be chopped and will have a custom front clip and i will try and make the rear look like a 51 mercury.

i only build hot rods and muscle cars. the only modern thing i am building is a toyota supra that my friend gave up on so i am bringin it back to life with a body kit i am making up for it as i think of it. i have to putty the car up so i can smooth it out . And the owner of the supra is bah humbug , he is on this forum too with his cars just search his name . And i am only 14 . ok i'm out peace

thanx guys. ok well i just got done sanding the whole car down my next step is primer, then i will look it over and see how straight everything is and then i will wet sand the whole car down to get the egg shell bumps out and them it will be good for paint i will hopefull have it done by the end of the week and u will see finished pics. i have to clean the chassis and engine cuz everything is dusty. when i am done with this i will move on to the ford on page 1 and then i will do my prowler and then off to my muscle cars and then my 35 ford which will be really cool looking . By the way if u havent seen already the merc will be DUPLICOLOR : BLACKCHERRY and then i will put a clear coat on it .

I must say that car is begging for a 427 Big Block engine. The inline just looks so small.

Well it was going to have a Chrysler 440 in it until i messed up painting it and the paint would never dry so i got pissed at it threw it at the wall and it's in peices in the box . so my next mercury will have the chrysler 440 in it insteand of the stock.
and the Ford u seeis goin to have the stock engine in it but if i really wnated to i can still make the custom engine for it . i was thinking of trying to put the mercury engine the chrysler 440 back together and put that in the ford but idk. i gotta see how thing work out with it.

actually i'm gonna go put the crysler 440 back together now. i talk to yas later.

hmmm... cant say that i like putting a chrysler powerplant in a Merc, Id like to see either a 427 like StephenDeli said, or a 4.6 from a Cobra... but hey, its your project not mine.
But i like what youve done so far....

Ok ,well ,I just got done scratching down my firewall to make it somewhat smooth. After i paint the car ima paint under the hood and the firewall gloss black and then shoot it with the Chrome Alclad 2 Lacquer paint, but idk yet im still deciding, i will see what it looks liek first all in gloss black in the engine compartment . I also swapped engines I cant go any bigger than the chrysler 440 becuase I would have to do some firewall work and then i would have to do the inner fenderwalls u know liek where the battery sits i would have to cut some away. The engine is kinda tight in there now so there is no room at all i have no exhaust or shock in the rear. they both got in the way of me lowering my suspension. I'm gonna do sidepipes on the car in place o fthe stock exhaust. i also have another body similar to the one i'm buildin now it was my dads so ima be swaping bodys too i will show u it when i take more pictures. i know ur all anxious to see but its been a busy week with graduation parties and me and my family gettin stuff ready for my graduation party tom. so i will get pics asap. i'm sorry for the delay and believe me the car looks nothin like the pic of all the putty work anymore. i plan on gettin it in primer today as soon as some putty dries and then i can sand it.

ok well i go the car in primer today. i found some imperfections in my putty work so no wi have to sand it down tomorrow and then prime it again . I alos painted my dads 49 mercury and i put that on my chassis and i will sho wu that body which is similar to mine
