IC Piping

Ok, I have a question about some of the IC Piping. I plan on getting a FMIC in the future, but not any time soon. Therefore, I want to do the IC piping on the stock sidemount until then. I am getting a complete UICP set, and possibly a complete LICP. I was just wondering how important or good it would be to have the lower piping? I know the stock upper piping is pretty restrictive, but what about the lower? TIA.

If you have ever taken a look at the stock LICP, you will see that it is very straight and not restrictive at all. I wouldn't doubt a slight performance gain from a hard pipe, but I don't know a lot of people that would bother with it. The UICP can be used in an FMIC upgrade, while the LICP most likely can not.

With a real FMIC kit both pipes will have to be sold. Or chopped and used elsewhere, as in my case :D Only the greedy FMIC routes its pipes to the stock location, and thats one of its downfalls. So I would go as cheap as possible on the UICP, and dont bother with the LICP. Just my opinion.

i just replaced my piping top and bottom and i noticed a significant boost increase. i was running about 12psi with stock pipes and without touching the boost controller it gets up to 14psi alot quicker because of no flex in the pipes. oh yea i spent about $30 all together for the pvc and cuplincs at HOME DEPOT but yes the icpiping is very restritive. i recommend puling it right away!

Be warned that the "fernco" rubber plumbing couplers will fail in hte not so distant future. Even before the turbo (no pressure and a lot less heat) they only last 6 months to a year. No biggie, just keep an eye on them ;)
