Key Problems with 1990 Maxima

I have a 1990 maxima with an unusual problem. I cannot get the key out of the ignition, and the securty light on the dash is blinking and dinging at me. The only way to get the car out of park is to use the gear release button up by the shifter. Any ideas on what to do?
