New for me - and I'm glad to see that the photos are from a very old event or I would have been unhappy to know that I missed out on something recent.
= = = = = =
I was about to make a thread on a new Leno article I found, but if you don't mind, I'll just piggyback the info in here.
Here's a link to the article:
http://www.channel4.com/4car/feature/features-2004/jay-leno/jay-leno.html
There's only one photo of his F1 included:
http://www.channel4.com/4car/media/features/2004/jay-leno/03-large/leno-9.jpg
In case you are wondering, the tarp underneath the F1 is part of the Car Capsule (http://www.carcapsule.com/) that he stores the F1 inside.
There's also a few pics of his LCC Rocket:

Nice find to both of you. Surprisingly there are a lot of articles about his collection and barely even mention the F1 and I think thats kinda weird. Like in an Autoweek article about his collection all they said was like "he also has a McLaren F1." :headshake:

You can get a smaller version if you are interested:
http://www.artforall.co.uk/ar-Watts_Le_Mans_1995.htm
I've held a copy in my hands, but they wanted $450 for it and I wasn't willing to pay that much. I'm guessing that Jay's enlarged version was a little bit more than that. :D

Man, it would be awsome to meet Jay in real life. People say he isn't just one of those celebrities that seems cool, but ends up being a dick in person. They say that Leno is a genuinely nice guy.
Also, that Car Capsule thing is insane. I have never seen that before.
The website mentions that it can protect against a 5 pound sledgehammer, but if someone really wanted to damage the car, couldn't they just puncture through the PVC?
So it can protect agains a sledgehammer, but is useless against a knife? That doesn't make sense.

I think they are implying that if a 5lb sledgehammer fell on it that it would protect the car, not if someone maliciously wanted to do damage to the car inside the bubble. ;)

Although this was requested in a different thread, I figured I would toss it in here to keep the recent Leno content all in one spot. This photo comes from Phil Berg's "Ultimate Garages" book and is sadly the only shot of Leno's F1 in the coverage of his garage in this book.
Shockingly to me, his McLaren F1 is not even mentioned one time in the text on Leno's garage, including in the caption under the photo. :screwy: :disappoin

Well, regardless of the looks, Leno happens to love the car and claims it's one of the quickest cars he owns. No surprise there, when you have almost 150hp moving only 800 lbs. I happen to love the Rocket too, even with it's quirky styling. Of course I'm a big fan of the Ariel Atom, Renault Sport Spider, and all the various Caterhams and Lotus Seven replicas of the world too. The Rocket is the coolest of the cool in my book.

Unfortunately there are not any really great shots of his F1. I promise to take some if I ever get close enough, but for now we make do mostly with photos like you have described.
Here the only two shots I have that are representative of the interior. You can see that most of the seating surfaces are black with red stitching and that the center area of the driver's seat is also red. It looks like the headliner and areas above the beltline are a light grey.
http://a6.cpimg.com/image/28/01/34966056-31df-0190012C-.jpg
http://a2.cpimg.com/image/24/01/34966052-1a20-0190012C-.jpg
This may qualify as the only great shot of Leno's F1. It's still not spectacular given the crowd and the close proximity of the camera, but at least it's big. I got this shot from the guy who took those two interior photos but couldn't the rest from him in high res unfortunately.
http://a7.cpimg.com/image/57/FA/34965847-0b66-02000180-.jpg
You can see this shot at 1280x960 by using 'Copy Shortcut' on this link and then pasting it into a new browser window.
http://members5.clubphoto.com/_cgi-bin/getImage.pl?imgID=34965847-9d45&trans=
There's also this shot which was taken inside one of his garages, however, the lights were off and the flash didn't do such a great job so I used Photoshop to enhance the image quite a bit.

Thanks! It seems Leno chose a very non-flashy "standard" color scheme.

Leno wasn't the original owner on his car, so he can be given credit for it's looks. I believe that it has retained it's original colors unlike many owners who order up a refit when they purchase one.

I've been a McLaren fan since it arrived in 92' (93) so I have gained some wisdom :p
I also "know" most of the people into McLaren related stuff.
The reason I joined here was because this is like Peloton has stated earlier a "one of a kind" forum for this common passion of ours. :iceslolan
Most carchat-pages are so unserious I never bothered to even join....
The tone is somewhat unique amongst the participants here, most forums tend to become arguments instead of shearing knowledge with eachother.

Well remember, Leno's F1 is #015 and was built in 1994. There weren't any ways even remotely legal to import a McLaren F1 to the USA in 1994. I think Ameritech was able to start importing them under their process in 1997 or thereabouts and I'd suspect that was when Leno made his purchase. If I ever get to meet him, that's certainly one of the questions I hope to ask.

Yes - I live about 30mins away from where Jay lives and it's about another 15mins to the area where his garage is at the Burbank Airport. In fact that large photo of his F1 along with those interior shots were taken at a big weekend motorcycle hangout he frequents which is only 15mins from my house. One of my friends saw his F1 there that day and called me to tell me, but I wasn't at home so I couldn't just rush over there. :disappoin
I used to work in Burbank and had seen Jay a few times driving around - never in his McLaren though. I think it sees very limited use compared to some of his other toys.

Leno's is a 1994 but was EPA certified as a 1995, the "eight" Fritzee/ameritech. Same for some cars Will/Irish were involved with. But hey, if you're certing '96's and 97's as 95's and calling yourself the manufacturer, the more the merrier.

For the most part, SoCal is great and a great place to see/own/drive nice cars. There are of course some areas to avoid, but that is true with every major metropolitan area. There's certainly no shortage of fast/expensive cars around here though.
