I would consider paying an entry level MBZ price tag if the total package was right (looks, performance, styling, bullet proof engine). I had always considered BMW more stylish than MBZ, but the new C-230 K sedan looks compelling. I saw one on display in the mall the other day and I did a double take because not only are the exterior lines very refined, the interior is one of the best I've seen in a Mercedes. If the super-charged 4 cylinder engine is as solid as the styling, this car looks like a winner. I'd like to hear from some owners to get their input??? At a base price of around $30K, and MPG at around 30 this looks like a viable car. Thoughts?

Don't be fooled with the price. 2004 C230 sedans are going as low as 26K with all the rebates. For that price it comes with sunroof and most other stuff but manual stick shift.

I think the new interior is definetley a step in the right direction for the C-class. It seems to be directed at the younger generation as it should. I personally think it looks a whole lot better than the older interior. Although, I have yet to see it in a wood trim. So far, all the cars arriving at the dealership have carbon-fiber type trim.

I dont think the Sport packages come in Wood only aluminum. I have an 04 and I love it. Automatic. the interior is a little different on the 05 but it's not as though you'd be dissapoined with the 04. They are fun little cars. Had mine to 130 so far. I'm glad it has good brakes!

I bought the new C230K Sports sedan recently. Great car. The interior is defintely much better than the '04 (which is itself a pretty nice car). I probably wouldn't have bought the car without the improved interior, sport seats, AMG-inspired body moldings, the 17" rims, the cross-drilled 13" front brake rotors, and the super-short-throw 6-speed shifter. I would argue that the '05 is as significantly different than the '04 as you can make it without it being a total redesign.
Here's my '05 C230WZ with 6-speed manual, and every option available except for the Nav:
