Power Loss at 5000rpm

I dont know if this holds true to all Lt1's, But ive noticed that my power is down between 5000-6000 and then when it shifts, I get slammed back into my seat, it seems my powerband is 3000-4500. Could a mild cam and heads change that? or could reprogramming my shift points to 5250 or 5000 bring my power back for the next gear (not litterally power back but make it so my engine runs in the power band for a little longer)

3000-4500 is is probly where your peak power is. the length of your stroke and camshaft duration would probly effect your power band more than anything. I wouldn't really recommend shifting at 5-6000 rpm, atleast not on a stock Lt1

yup, TPI's are worse, cuz they have longer runners, LT1 is better, but sill uses cross routed runners that are quite long, putting the power curve low in the rpm band.

putting a hotter cam would move your powerband up, but possible sacrifice low end power. the lt1 comes stock w/ a relatively mild cam. you could get a good reliable comp cam grind w/ a little more lift and duration than stock, probably solve the lack of high end power.

for small blocks i like a cam with about .442-.488 lift and about 260deg duration. it gives nice low end power but holds it clear to the mid upper rpm's.
