I new on this , I own a civic 88 1.5L std. 4 gears, How can I know if this ride is dx,cx, or what?.
Please be simple on your explanations, because I don´t know yet all the terms.

Can I put a trainny of 5 gears, If yes, wich one?
Can I convert this SOHC into a DOHC

pretty sure it's a dx. or...is STD a model also for the civic? or is that for the hatchback?

you can put a 5 speed tranny in, but i think u need new hubs or axels or something. Someone please correct me. The only way you can convert that SOHC to a DOHC is if you were to take out the SOHC engine, buy a DOHC and do an engine swap.

If you are in the US your cars model is a STD or Standard AkA the lowest model. IN canada the STD is called a CX.

you can do both things you asked about. The engine can be swapped out for a dohc engine. Also your tranny can be swapped out for any 88-91 civic 5 speed tranny.
