Moppie, who are you and why are you such a hard ass? Its just a web page dude!!:) Is there any real set of rules or is it just, "I don't like this person, so I will kick them off"? Also, there is some quote at the bottom of your sig that says hating foriegn cars is descriminatory... come on dude. I like Chevy's and hate imports and Fords, but I don't hate the people that own them. Its all in good fun... just like the Chevy-Ford rivalry. Now if I am bringing up issues that have already been addressed, I am sorry... everyone seems to get real upset when ever someone starts talking about something that has already been discussed. :)

No worries mate, this is a pretty tight little forum in a corner of AF and you all have a right to know I guess.
Who am I?
Well Im a truck driver by trade and a Philsopher by training. Iv been moderating car Forums for over 5 years (pretty sad huh ;) )
I currently drive a Honda, and I happen to quite like it, but Iv owned Nissan and Triumph in the past. Nothing American Im afraid, but we dont get a lot of American cars here in New Zealand.
Iv been working on cars for over 10 years, the last place I did anything profesionaly was for the the NZ Lotus agent, again no American cars (just one old Caddie engine, and a GT40 replica) but lots of European cars and plenty of Lotus's. Would you belive I have driven V8s from Lotus, BMW, Mercedes and Rover, but never a Ford or Chevy. I would love to have a go with a chevy small block :)
Im not really that much of a hard arse, and if your search far enough and deep enough you'll find me taking the piss as much as the next guy, but I do know how to spot trolls. People who have no life and have nothing to contribute to a forum. They are simple minded people who are only here for attention, but unforunatly arn't happy with just being a nice person. Instead they have to creat trouble and do thier best to get noticed, its some kind of weird power trip for them or something. We get one about once a month, and as mods we all have differnt ways of hunting them down and dealing with them. Its sort of an internet sport.
As for my sig, well have a read of this: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=170703
I have my own opinions about what manufactors are better than others, but they are only opinions based on my own perspective of what I believe the ultimate automobile is.
A bit of rivalry is OK, and all part of the fun. Hell in the depths of the AF archives is a thread 10 pages long where a Nissan owner and I debate whos car is faster, but its all good fun and bloody funny.
But when it goes beyond rivalry, and people start claiming a car is better just because of the badge then its getting silly. We no longer live in a world where a car is designed and manufactored intierly in one part of the world, and it hasnt been that way for at least 10 years. Did you know that cars like the Civic Coupe was designed in the US and only built in the US in Left Hand drive. It was then exported to Japan and Australia where it was converted to Right Hand drive, we get them here as used imports, and theres a lovely "Made in America" plate rivioted into the firewall. Same for the Toyota Camry, all the NZ new cars were built in the US. The Honda accord wagon is another one designed and built in the US. And of couse the Chevy Chaviler is sold in Japan badged as a Toyota, as is the Chevy Caprice (which is actualy built on a chassis/platform designed by Opel and adopted for the V8 by Holden in Australia).
Its ok to jokingly claim your chevy is better than your neighbors ford, just as long as its clear its a joke.
But to claim your car is better because it carrys a badge from a company that started life in American simply isnt true anymore. That company is no longer American, it is something far far greater, it is global and belongs to no nation.
Hence my sig :)

Woah dude, lol. So why the hell do you do this? Is it just for fun or do you actually get paid to do it? Whats wrong with people just trying to get attention?... thats what 90% of the internet is; people who are not confident enough to approach people in person, so they get attention without anyone really knowing who you are. As far as these forums our concerned, confrentation just attracts more visitors and that confrentation usually begins with someone who comes out with an ignorant statement like "All import cars suck ass..." I would just say let it fly, and eventually it will fade away, its all fun anyway. As for why I like Chevy more than anything else, its definately not because the lable... I have found that a Chevy 350 has to be the easiest engine to work on, find parts for, and sup up. And I can't think of an engine that has the power of a 350 for the price or an engine that has the potential that it does (in reguards to racing).

I dont get paid, be nice if I did though.
I don't really know why I do it, I just like helping others, and I happen to have knowledge that Im able to use.
And I happen to like meeting a wide range of people, and what better place to do that than online.
As for people starting trouble being a good thing?
Well in 5 years Iv never seen anything good come of it. Only more disrubtion and insults. You end up with a forum where nothing actualy happens. For example you have a thread asking about header for your car. Its the sort of information that requires someone with knowledge of your car, and those spefic headers. The sort of people that generaly have that information are not interested in a forum filled with people hurling insults at each other, and lots of threads about nothing.
Hence we like to keep AF nice and clean and friendly, and this attracts the small number of really smart guys out there, and hopefully you get an anwser to your question.
Iv never seen confrontation attract more users, it only ever drives them away.

Ok I read the forum rules. It states that there shall be no explisit, x-rated pics or posts on AF. Simple enough, I saw no pornographic, x-rated, explicit, demeaning, or otherwise obcene matterial, excuse my spelling please. That being said, there was a post with some women in bathing suits posing on or near some cars and you deleted the whole damn thread. Your saying it's against the rules, the thing is, it's not against the rules. Your a moderator, your purpose in life is to make sure that we're not bashing each other, posting the same post on overy forum, posting nude pics or explisit pics, and generaly keeping it clean. Your not hear to RUN this forum with some God like attitude thinking that if it's not your way it's the wrong way. And if your going to ban someone for giving you his openion then your a power junky and really have no place being a mod in the first place. Further more why are you even in the camaro forums? I think you should stick to your import forums, I realize that the camaro forum doesn't have a mod but vetteman shows up now and then and keeps us straight. You obviosly have no inkling of how our chevy minds work so why don't you let the chevy guy mod us and you stay in your little part of the site. Thank you.

i suppose as being "owners of cars whose companyy originated in america" we are expected to be cleaner than some of the "owners of cars whose companies originated in japan". if u take a look at magazine stands and such, it is a regular thing to see a japanese girl in a couple of strings called a bathing suit, next to some "tricked out" honda or nissan or whatever. but then u look at chevy high tech performance, gm high tech performance, and other kind of gm or hot rod mags and u hardly ever see swimsuit models. i guess sense having hot chicks next to the imports is the "nature" of the owners so they can do it, but now that american cars aren't cool and its not in the "nature" of us to have those pics, we can't have them.
oh and the god thing? wtf is up w/ that? i might be able to understand that if u had some kind of supercar and it was a kidding remark, hell u have a car my beat up p.o.s. could spank while i'm half asleep driving. but sense it obviosly isn't a car remark, then u have to be on some sort of power trip, doing whatever u can, because u can. have a good life moppie, i sense a ban coming on, because YOU can.

Moppie is a solid contributor on most things Honda- he can be a little controversial (If you were here for the Skylines Down Under and 4ndrms hissy-fit's you'd see that) But as far as his reputation goes, it's a pretty good one and he should be respected as a well-informed contributor.
End of story.

wow, where did all you mods come from? i dont want to get in trouble here but the general consensus here seems to be that any pictures that gather hormone inflamed attention are not allowed, and any vulgar language be it called for or not is not allowed either.
This forum(the chevy camaro forum in general, which draws more attention and posts than any other chevy forum) is filled with help, advice and insight from many knowlegable people, and AF is here for that exact reason. But I find it hard to beleive the people like myself, 89IROC&RS, 1992RS, Tardster, Tacoma man, and many more are all the sudden so limited on what we can and cant say, and what we can and cant post.
come on mods, i'm almost 143% sure that everyone here is 13 yrs or older. I come on here to share what knowlege i have, and learn some things in the process, and i DO IT FOR FREE, and on my own time and so does everyone else. there have been hundreds of thousands of dollars saved in mechan bills and mechanical insight in just the small corner of AF alone. now where's the motivation of coming back when all the sudden the mildly vulgar humor and chick pics that we all love and enjoy have become un-permitted.
we may get a little off topic at times, and a few pictures may be teen rated, but atleast 90% of the time people's questions are answered and problems solved.

K this is lame im tired of seeing half the posts on here about people bitching. The mods are gonna do whatever they want and it is a car forum so it makes sense to keep the whore pictures away.
All im saying is quit whining and causing trouble, even if you think its warranted, and get back to some car talk.

I don't know who said swearing wasn't allowed, it's certainly not frowned upon unless it is excessive or actually directed at somebody in a derogatory way.
Swearing in thread titles on the other hand is a no-no.
Pictures of girls is one thing, pictures of girls that would qualify for a VS catalogue on the other hand are not very highly thought of.
What you guys need to realise is there is only a small group of mods, think of this. There are about 100 to 200 mods(if we're lucky), and in excess of 180,000 members here, if we don't draw the line somewhere there would be anarchy and the site wouldn't be worth visiting because the content would be utter crap.
The reason you're seeing to many mods appear here is because there has been enough 'bad activity' that it has indeed drawn our attention and we have come to see what it going on.
We're just trying to keep everything clean, free and fair and make sure nothing gets out of line.
We're not policemen, we're members that have a responsibility to the site, much like you all do if you want to keep it enjoyable.
The difference is, we have the added responsibility of taking care of the ones that make it unpleasent for the rest of you.
You may see Moppie as the enemy right now, but he only reacted because he was pushed into a corner and was forced to act as a mod.
Thanks Dober89, we don't so much do what we want as what we are required to, but yes, we are going to do it all the same and I appreciate your stand on the images and your support on the rest. :smokin:
