Hey everyone my name is Tim
I'm going to be honest with you... I don't know very much about cars. I know how they work and all of that stuff but I don't know so much about high perforence parts and things of that nature. There is a "project" I'd like to do, but I need huge amounts of advice so I'll just go ahead and tell you what kind of car I'd like to have put together. Really what Im looking for is info on what parts would be best for what I want.

Like I said I don't know much so I'm not positive on what exactly I want out of this.

What I'd like to do is take a 1970 Chevy Chevelle and basicly "deck it out" to where it is fast but also still street legal. See here is what I was thinking.

1. I'd prefer that it is all mechanical/ no computers
2. Like I said before I want something street legal and something that can at least run on premium gas.
3. I was thinking of N2O
4. I'd also prefer a manual 6 speed

I just want this car to be extremely fast but still be able to be driven on the road. I'm not looking to compete for money but I'd like to be able to drive it out to a quarter mile strip and tear it up. For the sake of my learning what I need lets just say money isn't an object.

What I'm looking for is suggestions on pretty much all parts imaginable... engine,pistons,valves... and so on.

Any help would be greatly apreciated. Thank You for your time.

if your looking for a six speed your asking for a handfull of fabricating so i would discount that idea and stick with a m22 or t10.
you say you don't know much about car's your better off getting a gm crate motor. preferably a big block. emissions are nothing on those cars it's a piece of cake to pass that because the car is so old the standards it has to pass are really high.

i agree if you don't know what you're doin just buy a crate engine. If money was no object i'd opt for the Ram Jet ZL1 454. Big block power small block weight. if you try to build without much knowledge the trouble shooting to follow will be painful.

I agree too, a crate motor would be the way to go too.
If you go w/the ZL1, you will need the biggest radiator possible, and an axle to handle the torque. MSD ignition would be a big + too.
If it goes it has to stop. Plan on getting a good brake kit and adequate suspension.

well u said u know cars work but u dont know the performance part of it. well assuming u do know how to build a motor just dont know good combos(thats what i think u mean) it would be good to get a crate motor no matter what but i u want a lot of torque not sacraficeing weight and u dont wanna order a crate motor a good ol' classic idea would be the 383, if im not mistaken all u do is take a 350 and add longer conecting rods on it, i think 4.6 inches. You have to get a shorter piston for it though to make up for the extra length of the rod. then just slap a performance cam in there(if money is no object an upgrade to billet cam and roller lifters and roller rocker arms is great for those high RPM's) and some good heads. preferably i like a head DART makes for small block and big block chevies called the IRON EAGLES, a good size would be intake valve 2.02 exhaust valve 1.60 with a 64 CC head. make sure u get soem 10 or 10.5:1 comp pistons to match the 64 CC head so u can get some compression outta that beast. then put a edelbrock air gap intake manifold with a 750 CFM dual accelerator pump HOLLEY carb. Malory HEI ignition would be a good idea or MSD theyre both good but make sure u get HEI, no points... hehe other than that if u wanna go fast on the highway and be able to tear up the 1/4 mile like u said a 6-speed isnt the best way to go, u should get the M22 4-speed muncie tranny, also known as the rockcrusher, and a 3:73 rear end. the tranny is good for quick pickups as is the rear end but eh rear end wont top out at 120 like a 4:11 will and wont waste gas so much either so it makes it a great highway car too. but thats all just MY opinion... lol

Oh ya and u were sayin it has to be street legal but that year car has no smog checks so mostly everything is legal. you can even have no seatbelts if it didnt come with any. Just make sure its not too loud or the tires are not illegal cuz they can catch u on presentation but not whats under the hood, hehe ;) have fun......

I agree with the flock. A GM 502 Crate motor will leave a smile that is hard to get off your face.
