are you a pansie if you drive auto?

i was just wondering what you think about this....some people out there say its more girly to drive an auto whats your opinion?

Stick/auto......all the same to me. Dont think driving an auto makes you any less manly then when a guy has his own garden.

nothing wrong with auto, manual is more fun, and unless your a good driver it better on gas too

I have driven both and to tell you the truth, auto is better for city driving and it lets you appreciate your muscle car. Now, manual gives you that edge of you behind the power and sure is fun if you want to race and go fast, but for city driving I find manual.................. tedious, its fun for a while but it gets to ya especially in heavier traffic.

Thats just my opinion.

autos are better for bracket racing too. and a hell of alot easier in traffic. i dont think it matters what u drive.

I made the mistake of buying a manual truck, it's like driving a semi. I used to drive semi, and when I'd finish for the day and jump into my pickup, it just seemed like a chore. It was cool at first, but now I hate having to row a truck around...

Manual in a car with power, very fun. A car with no power should have an auto, because driving a car with a manual and no power is defeating the purpose of the point of a manual...

i was just wondering what you think about this....some people out there say its more girly to drive an auto whats your opinion?----------------Well concidering that gm never offered a l98 tpi (350) mated to a stick I would say no .I have seen many gta's and irocs with standards but they came from the factory with 305's .If you build it right an automatic tranny would have many advantages over standard.And auto is better for turbos-superchargers.So the next time someone calls you a pansy for having an automatic .Take em to the track and see how they like getting there asses handed to em by a pansy.....Automatic=pansy...I DONT THINK SO.................Stupid as$hole calling you a pansy for having an automatic = pansy......or they drive a rustang.............

Automatics have their place but definitely not in a muscle car. If you are shopping for a sports car like a corvette and you opt to get the automatic over the 6-speed manual for the reason that it's too much work or too hard to drive manual then yes you are a girly pansey.

To comment on tealse's post about how automatics mated to fast engines from the factory is cool/alright. Automatics shouldn't be the only option on the fast engine but it is so that the automaker can dumb down and make safer the otherwise very race ready car. They also do it for insurance purposes because insurance companies know what kind of cars have manuals in them and they ain't cadillacs.

I like manual transmissions as much as everyone else, but since the automatics for some years actually shift faster than the BEST driver can shift, I got an automatic. The last time I checked, the first past the finish line wins. If you want to feel cool while you're driving, go do some drafts in your junior high parking lot.

Calm down some and think about some of the odd things you put in posts like the rustang comment. It didn't fit, make sense, and doesn't even hold true. If you want to talk about a rusty muscle car, talk about a Mopar because Mustangs didn't have that design problem. On a real quiet night, you can hear a '56 Ford or a Mopar muscle car rust. So try to watch your little side notes while writing, especially if they aren't true. And for the tranny question, I say manual is just more fun, but nothing wrong with an auto as long as it has O/D. I have been calling them rustangs for over 20 years since most of my family were avvid ford fans it was a cool joke..As far as keeping my little side notes to myself .How do you know it was'nt a typo??? But seeing that that remark pissed you off you must have a major complex about your 5.0. Thats cool dude.But the last I knew we are in the USA and there is a certain thing called FREEDOM OF SPEECH. the advantage of manual over automatic wasn't just that autos used to shift slower, automatics also shift at the wrong time and have torque converter slip, the oil pump in the auto trans also robs power.

Eh hemm.(i hate this, cause i have an auto) Here is the thing. parasitic powerloss. It's going to drain more power going through all of the crap in an auto. However when you can preset your shift points and just worry about pedling the car down the track and making sure that you don't break traction you have a better chance of winning, you cannot outshift an auto. However, that's only on a straight away. If you are doing anything else then manual is the way to go. You can't beat the brain of a good driver when it comes to wether or not to downshift coming out of a turn.
The final and deciding factor should be preference. If you want to be able to have a burger while you drive auto. If you want to be able to mess around more, stick.
Another thing to consider. Last time i checked an auto tranny can soak up to 21% of your power (stock trans) and a manual only about 4% (again stock tranny) but those are just numbers that i have found out there on the net and i do not know if they are completely accurate.
