Will a transmission(gearbox) out of a D15B2(DX) fit a D16A6(Si)?? Both 91 Civic's.

Thanks

Thanks a lot man!!! That was quick. My tranny just died tonight in my Si. I have 2 Dx trannys but wasn't sure if they would fit. Well I got a job to do tomorrow!!

Thanks Again

Damn that's gonna suck, going from the Si's gearing to a DX.

so it will bolt up but they are different?? If so I have have an Si tranny lined up.

They will bolt up but the Si tranny has shorter gearing than the DX tranny. The Si tranny is better for acceleration and the DX is better for gas mileage. For city driving 1st gear in the Si tranny is worthless, it revs up so fast.

I got another out of a 91 se?? I was told it was an se anyhow. It has power steering a different console, seats, clock in the dash like the si same cluster sunroof, etc. Will that have a different tranny than a Dx?

On the outside they're the same, it's the internals. DX is made for fuel economy - Si is made for acceleration

Yay, for once I said something the same as jackasssi said so I must have been right...with the whole gas mileage/acceleration on the trannies, lol.

Special Edition??? That's the only thing I can think of. I didn't think they made a Civic SE though.

no, you dont need diff axels. i also had the same problem as you did. I ruined my shifter fork in the si racing, and now i'm using the dx tranny. Works great for saving gas, but...my acceleration sucks horribly. Now i'm not racing any more. I bought another Si tranny from icantgetno or ..damn forgot his name on this forum. Oh well, i can't wait to put the si tranny back in :)
