I have an 04 silverado 4.8 L. I would like to have more muffler noise other than stock. I was looking at Flowmaster mufflers, but don't know where to start. I want a sound with some balls, and something alot louder. I'm not sure what series of Flowmaster I should be looking at. Any advice appreciated. Also, I was just thinking of just the muffler, or what are the pros to getting the whole flowmaster exhaust system as opposed to just the muffler?

If you want noise, and you want a flowmaster, get a 40 series. They seem to be the most popular agressive sounding one. Now if you really want loud, you can install some glasspacks, or straight pipe it from the converters back.
The only difference inthe flowmaster system, is the pipe is mandrel bent, which means it keeps the same diameter in the bends whereas the stock is slightly smaller in the bends. It's supposed to help it flow a little better.

I would suggest talking to your local muffler shop. A shop will be able to install a "TRUE" dual exhaust, meaning two mufflers instead of the Flowmaster kit which is a single muffler split into two pipes. The full exhaust kit will improve your gas mileage as well as give you the ability to chose a muffler, glasspack or straight pipe for the sound you want. The Flowmaster kit will also run between $450 and $600. Local shop will be much less expensive.

i ended up getting a flowmaster 40s muffler series hooked up to my factory exhaust system. it was more in my price range rather than a whole new exhaust. i couldn't beleive the size difference, the factory muffler was insanely huge. anyways, im happy with the purchase. thanks guys.

mine is a single in single out. it cost me $100, plus $50 to get installed. remember that's $150 canadian $$, so alot less for you.

it sounds nice. not as loud as i thought... i think i was expecting crazy loud. its got a nice tone when you start the engine, and increased sound when you give er. the flowmaster exhaust was gonna cost me like $700, so i was happy with this.
