to read your 'check engine' Flash Codes, heres what you do. Have a piece of paper ready and watch the lamp carefully. with the engine off, turn the ignition ON wiat for the lamp to be on then.....quickly step on the gas pedal 5 times[must be fully to the floor and fully off the pedal each time & must been done in 5 seconds].....the lamp will go off, then on for 5 sec's, then off for 1/2 sec. then on about 2.5 sec's......THEN it will flash 1 - 2 times....then 2 times....then 1 - 6 times....then 1 - 5 times....then go off about 2.5 sec's then stay on. record the flash, i.e....1252 or 2231 etc. be ready in case there's more than one code.
Someone has a web page with the codes posted [there all in my MoDiC at work........NOTE ! these codes DON'T tell you what to replace really but point you to the area to look. hope this saves some of you a little $$$.
P.S.! if the 'check engine' lamp doesn't start blinking after the first 10sec's, you have a 'throttle switch' problem [the dme is looking for a series of quick high-low signals from it to go into 'self-diagnosis' mode], out of adjustment, dirty contacts, or bad connection[rare]........jeffb.
