96 Taurus no spark

Please help. I have a 96 Taurus which stopped the other day.
On crankinging I have fuel but no spark.
There is 12v to the ignition module.
All fuses ok. Changed crank and cam sensors, ignition module even the ECM. Checked continuity of ignition wires from ECM to ignition module all ok including grounds.
Scanned ECM and only fault was excessive EGR. Cleared fault but can not see where this will loose spark.
Engine has compression and sensor drives rotate.
I am obviously missing something silly. Any ideas as to what else will make it loose spark.

Thanks in hope Ash

Check your fuses 1st. Also when you chenged the CAM sensor, did you notice if the window on the reluctor was still there? I had a Taurus once that had the same problem, whe nI went to change the CAM sensor I saw the reluctor wheel in pieces underneath it. Had to change the whole thing.

Good luck

Is your vehicle equipped with DIS ignition (3 coil packs) or a distributer? 3.0 or 3.8?

If it is equipped with a distributer, I would suspect the TFI module or wiring. I've seen a couple E150 vans that had problems with the pins pulling out.

You said you had power to the module.... but did you check for a cycling ground? With the key on you should be getting steady power, but when you crank it you should get an on/off ground signal telling it to fire.

Its a coil pack (ie 3 coils). There is a steady 13v at the pack with ignition on. I put a noid light accross the feed and each signal wire from the ecm. There was no flashing light while cranking indicating the coils are not being pulled to ground to initiate a spark. The ground wires have continuity back to the ecm. The ecm is not pulling them to ground. Checked ecm's grounds ok. Changed ecm's still no spark. So somewhere the ecm is not being told to fire the coils ?

Now your at the point where you'll need to bring in the heavy artillery (Scope and Snapon scanner). If you have access to either tool, you need to check and see if the ECM is getting a signal from the crank and cam sensors. If the ECM is getting these signals and still not firing.... time for a new ECM.
