Ok I've been looking at an rb swap into my 240sx. I found this site that sells rb motor mount kits (which includes a custom driveshaft) for the 240sx. It says that with this the engine will sit lower and where it is supposed to. It also says that with this you won't have to cut into the firewall or the hood to add space. So does that make the swap pretty much bolt in?

wow so with this kit I could do the install by myself? Im not afraid of doing some modification but if it is that easy than I am going to look into it a lot more.
BTW with a kit like this and an rb25det front clip how much do you think it would cost total? The cheapest front clips Ive seen are around 3g's.

"Finally, if you want the engine to sit low enough to clear the hood bracing, the shifter to sit where it used to, the steering shaft not to hit the downpipe and everything to bolt in properly, there's a third option. McKinney Motorsports in San Diego, Calif., unStable Hybrids in Conyers, Ga., and by the time you read this, probably Super Tuner Motorsports in Ridgecrest, Calif., all make engine mount kits that move the engine down and back about an inch and a half. In addition to making everything fit better, moving the drivetrain, which weighs about 650 pounds, shifts the center of gravity in exactly the right direction. This is also the ideal option if you have an engine, transmission, harness and ECU, but no front clip."
This is from the the instructoins on how to swap an rb25det into a 240sx form Sport Compact Car website. I will hopefully have my front clip by the end of summer!

if you're not afraid to turn a wrench, then i'd say just buy the clip (or really i think just the engine/tranny/ecu/wiring harness would be enough) and buy the kit and go for it. just make sure you've got another car to drive to work.
i'd personally just save for the r26dett engine myself. you can snag all you need for the r26 swap for about 8k. then you'd be in the running for having a 10second car.. hell maybe even an 8 seconds.

nice...i have a question bout this...i was thinking about just purchasing the engine/tranny/ecu/wiring harness (when they say engine, does that include then exhuast and intake manifolds?? there on the engine...)......the company says dont email asking what else is included cuz thats all...

so would the stock rb26dett tranny fit now with this kit or do you have to use the rb25det tranny.

Fist of all the rb26dett wouldnt fit with both turbos on it. Usually people take the rb25det tranny with the rb26de(t). But if you took off the other turbo then ya but I think you get more bang for your buck with the rb25det. When they say engine, they mean just the engine. In the front clips you get the manifolds but not the actual exhaust. I would definety get the front clip over just the engine/trans etc. because it is safer for the engine and you know you will get all the parts plus extra if you needed them intact. Also it will be easier to do the swap if you have a visual of where everything goes from the clip.
P.S. most companies that sell clips dont take off the after market goodies that are left on there by the previous owner!!!! Ex. bov, bigger intercooler etc.

"The RB26DETT Skyline GTR engine does not clear the steering linkage in the 240SX, and I believe is not worth the extra cost. Averaging at least $1500 over the RB25DET for an extra 30HP, then coming with an unusable 4wd transmission- it isn't the way to go. The single turbo RB25DET has more potential, and is easier/cheaper to find a quality unit as they were availiable in Sedans and several versions of skylines."
This is from the rs-imports website and I believe it is so true. Only 30hp for thousands more, and we all know that once you start building up your engine, it doesnt matter how much hp you started with.

the rb26 has a longer stroke than the rb25. there's a link somewhere (i can't get to it b/c of work --stupid blocked internet sites) stating that the rb25det can push round 250-300 horse on stock internals while the rb26dett can push round 500-600hp on stock internals.
either the stroke difference is enough to make that type of hp difference or there's a big difference between the two. /shrug

lol wut?!?!
thats bullshit....
the rb25 can push 500 on stock...n the rb26 can get about 800 consistent...
there would be no point, and no one would be swaping rb25's if it can only make the same as sr20
no one would be comparing the rb26/skyline to the 2jz/supra as being the best tuner cars if the rb26 could only make 500...cuz the 2jz can for sure push a hell of a lot more

U are completey right smokeurass. Plus the longer the stroke the lower the rpm you can reach. It is not always good to have a longer stroke. Now if it were dispacement then it is different. Why would you do all that for .01 more. Especially if it is just in the stroke!
