Hello

Im in calgary, i work for Airdrie Chrysler as a sales rep up here. I gotta get rid of my 91 Tercel (giving it back to my dad) and need to purchase just a 88 Honda Civic Si. Yop. thats the only one i want. unless the DX is a better price and will fit the B16.

My intentions? to put a new B16 in it with lsd tranny IF possible. Why? cuz of speed, and i get parts for cheap!! duh! Could anyone help me get a list of things i need to get to get that sweet engine installed? like drive shafts? hmm... unno stuff like that. I will buy everything mostly brand new as well. now, im also confused, i've heard many quotes on B16's anywhere from 1200-2500 bux for one. Any differences? Like i said im very new at this. Any help would be so much greatfull!

thanks everyone! hope to see u on the streets this summer!

PS. I play Paintball too, i'll be at the Nationals this 26th and 27th. email me or something if ya guys wanna watch peepz get shot!

Parstwise you would need the engine (of course :)), tranny, flywheel, clutch, axles, mounts and ECU. I'm pretty sure that's close if not all you would need. There's also a place in town that I've heard of called

YOKO
(Japanese) Used Engines
Transmissions & Parts Ltd.
#8, 415-38 Ave NE
403-230-8984

Never called em to see what they're like for prices or anything. But hey it's a starting point eh?

Hopefully your project goes well! :D:D

You should just check the bargain finder.
Or check out www.megawheels.com www.canadatrader.com or www.buysell.com
you should be able to find one there.

Glad to be hear. and my hunt continues! went through ebay today to get some ideas and boy!!! look at those parts! projector headlights, bomex body kit! man o man... wish i had 10k right now to spend! hehe....
im still tryin to find a decent car, and no luck. i saw a 225000kms 93 civic cx with dents and rust at Brasso nissan, and they want like 5k for it. not worth it huh?

Plasma69

prolly should mention that the 5000 dollas for the 93 civic cx, is a wholesale price. which means only i can get it....

ok.
I went for a quick shop today. Which engine is more worth while getting? or differences and what not.

US Spec B16 or Jap Spec B16???? lets say for a 88-91 civic... because from what i've heard, jap specs have been around forever and noone really knows the actual kilometers on it and it has different fuel/air mixture unlike the US spec where its pretty much programmed to be running at our elevation.

Any clarifications are appreciated.

Doesn't really matter if you get JDM or USDM spec ... difference between them is the ECU and the compression ...

Ok. so now one thing is at ease with me!!! thanks.... now its pretty much down to best price i guess. but i think choice number 1 would prolly still be usdm because of less mileage... but we'll see. i found a nice 89 Civic Si with new white paint job, 4K? still expensive for high kilometers i guess. but we'll see what i can squeeze.

Yoko's has their good and bad points .. I've heard of some very bad experiences with them ... just make sure you know your stuff when you decide to buy an engine from them ... just some advice ...

hey thanks for the advice. Im trying to get dealer prices on engines and so far. $1000 us including shipping and tranny and all that junk is the best price. or next 1950 cdn for a complete kit. this is a JDM's though. i haven't found usdms' yet. oh and if you guys wanna purchase engines, let me know. i got a list of kick a$$ prices on all of them. if we order all at once, its gonna be good cheap stuff for us.

This is for the complete swap ... Everything included ...
$3000 CDN for B16A2
$4000 CDN for B18C1
If you can get a way better deal than this you can count me in on this buy ...

Talk to the guys at Tunerworks. They can get quite a bit of stuff, as they have hookups almost everywhere.

That's where I'm going for my swap later this year.

If you plan on getting an EF hatch(88-91), try to get the Si cuz then wiring will be alot easier, meaning it'll be a bit cheaper.:D I think the going rate for a JDM B16A1 is $1250-1500 for engine, tranny, ecu, and sometimes axles. And then you'll need just mounts and shift linkage, and axles if it wasn't included in the first place.

Beyond Imagination: Where are you getting your price quotes? Seems like a good deal to me.

Everything means everything except for the installation ... a JDM B16A1 I was quoted $1600 shipped here from Winnipeg ... Just so you know a JDM B16A1 will not bolt into a 4th gen, you will need mounts ... If you want go down to AutoZeal and talk to a guy named Alan ... tell him Calvin mentioned him ... :)
