my friend and I are having a debate. he says that if he was to throw a grenade underneath a car, that the entire car would explode in a fireball or whatnot. i say that while the blast force from the grenade would rupture the fuel tank and fuel lines, by the time enough fuel has been exposed, the explosion from the grenade would have disappated, and the fuel would not be ignited.
my reasoning is that if youve ever seen a real grenade blow up, there isnt an actual fire like in the movies. it's just a shockwave, which is what does the damage.
so who's right?

Lol, all cars are made of super-explosive gasoline coated sheetmetal in the movies. Especially because everything the hero drives has to blow up at some point during the movie.

Sorry but I refuse to contribute to this because I don't know WHY this is important to you? With all the terrorist activity going on right now this is not something I feel is reasonable to warrant this threads existance. :(

iF YOU INTEND TO LE A FEW DERANGED IDIOTS DICTATE HOW YOU LIVE FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE,THEY'VE WON.
Sorry but much as I deplore the events of 9/11 terrorism has been a fact of life in some parts of the world for many years. In Northern Ireland, people have had their world turned into a battleground for the last 30 years.Every time the British respond to a terrorist attack, the separatists take their atrocities one step further. In the middle are the ordinary civilians, just getting on with their ordinary lives as best they can.
I intend to keep my life the way it has always been.I don't intend to change how I think or what I say because some Arab that I've never met wants me to.

Two words. Lighten up. :)
Are you going to hide from everything for the rest of your life?

I feel so bad for you, that show was the dumbest thing on earth. The hero was a wimp and could get out of any situation with his pocket knive and some chewing gum.
At least you guys get some hot rides from Japan right?:D
EDIT: Sorrying for being OT

One thing about cars tanks that I know is that it takes a lot to get the fuel tank to explode from a bullet. For example, if the tank is full then the fuel with not ignite. If the tank is empty, then the fuel fumes will ignite, but will quickly burn themselves out. About half full is the most dangerous time because the fumes will ignite and the gasoline will burn.

You can't get much lighter than I am bud. I stated my OP and I stick by it. How a car explodes is WHACK and unimportant unless you want your car to be the test vehicle?
