metallic paints

this is the first time I've ever sprayed a metallic color, and I was wondering....can I sand it? not the whole thing, just two small spots on my chevelle that bubbled. Im planning to do 2-3 more color coats, then a few clear.

sand down the bubbles and any other rough spots and respray but don't go through the primer to bare plastic
