Boy did I word that wrong, did not mean it that way. I have a 2001 grand am that the key cylinder is bad and the car wont start. You have to put the key on the on position for about 10 to 15 finutes until the security light stops blinking. It's becomming a real pain. I dont feel like paying dealers cost ( the cylinder its self is 140.00). You cant get it at your local parts store. I've been trying to call all the local salvage yards but no one has one yet. Any help?

As far as I know there isn't a way to do it. I install remote starts in these all the time and if the decoder is going bad, you're stuck. I am not sure but you might be able to install the thing yourself. Though they might have to program the new code in for you???
