A guy where i live is selling a 90 crx SI. he wants $1500 for it. i test drove it and the motor drove good.the clutch didnt grab till i was about all they way off it (needs a new clutch soon im guessing). its got a thermal exhaust and a couple tiny dings here and there. passenger window has trouble rolling up. its got a sunroof. also he must of cut the suspension cause it is bouncy as hell and harsh ass ride on stock rims. got 145 thousand. as for interior, got a couple little marble size tears on door panel but other than that its alright. wondering if it is worth it. what you guys think from what i have explained? I want to get it and have it as my project car. maybe even put suspension and what not from 4d onto rex.

Thats not to bad of a price, I would try talkin him down, but if he wont go down, I would prolly go for it. 145thou is not to bad, it should go for another 60thou as long as you dont run the hell out of it, and the clutch problem could just be that the clutch cable needs to be adjusted

sounds like a decent deal... I paid 2500 for mine off ebay with similar situation only with built up motor that burnt oil, some showy STR parts, painted pieces, etc. but with the same bouncy susupension, small rips, dings, etc. And I'm on my second engine, have driven the bejesus out of it and it's still daily driven. Granted, it took about a grand to replace what was needed when I first got it but that built motor burning oil with advance cam timing 2 degrees lasted a whole year b/f it blew up. I'd say if the motor is stock give him a grand in cash... good luck :smokin:

went to talk with guy and asked to see under the hood. he doesnt know shit about cars let alone what motor it has. his brother gave it to him. opened up the hood to find it has a B18A1 and a YS1 tranny. of course he doesnt know how many miles on are on engine or tranny but it looks clean. clutch might be needing replacing but i would have engine/tranny rebuilt anyhow. and as for suspension, it is slammed. a front control arm makes all kinds of noise.had my uncle who works on cars take a look at it. he told me it was a good deal if it would pass smog. The guy dont know if it will cause his bro gave it to him and he hasnt drivin it or knows nothing about it. what you all think?

Get it and fix it. If you are getting a car that runs with a b18a1 and a ys1 tranny for 1500, or even cheaper, JUMP ON IT.

b18a and b18b are both non-vtec. However, b18c1 (gsr) and b18c5 (type-r) do have vtec.

take it for $1,000 then resell for 2 grand on ebay. I think it would really go... If it was the stock motor i'd say dont go over 1k if its that bad but yah since its not, go for it.

Get a VTEC head, B16 pistons, ARP rod and head bolts, and you'll have an easy 170ish hp, and around 130torque. (for less than $1000 in parts)

Anyway.. Ya.. Get the car with the LS swap for $1500, the swap alone costs close to that much. If it needs some motor work and a clutch thats fine, LS is a nice platform for NA or boost.

:werd: The LS motor is a very nice motor.

And not to get off topic, but SiZ...you're rims look a lot better in that picture, than the ones u posted before. The car is lookin very good.

I dont have the knowledge to swap ( replace clutch and so forth) to do 3/4 of engine mods.:banghead: would cost alot of money for labor as well

Honda motors are perfect for learning on. Easy to work on, cheep for the most part. Only basic tools are needed. I say get a good manual and try to do it yourself, you'll be supprised how easy it is.

Get that $hit. These crazy folks around here are selling Std's and DX's for 1500-2000 and modded ones for 2500+. It already has a swap and only needs a clutch. You are already ahead of the game.

Hell yeah dude, I would jump on that in a second. That thing is probably pretty quick (quick not fast) the way it sits right now. I'd first check out the motor mounts first and anything else that had to be done for the swap. There will be 3 mounts, front mount in eliminated with b series swaps, one on the driver side, one on the tranny, and one on the back of the block, Just take a peak and see that they arent rigged up or anything. By the way, where are you from?

good deal man, with a b18a swap, 145k, just get it cleaned up and back to par and you'll be lovin it, maybe some upholstery, body and paint work, some armor-all and a couple of 12's, you'll get all the hoes, then just upgrade the hell out of it, intake exhaust, suspension, you know the drill, get it i wanna see pictures.

Jos4DCivic
06-08-2004, 07:43 PM
is there any way they could test it to see if it will pass smog and if wont pass you think they could tell me (specificly) why it didnt pass at a smog shop? :newbie:. im worried that if it doesnt pass its gonna cost alot to make it pass.
