Does anybody have any info on taking the panels off for installing a new cd player on a 2004 Toyota Tacoma? I've been searching for info and wanted to get some info before I go to tearing things up!
I've never had a store install my in dash players (except when it was required), and I don't want to pay someone $50+ dollars to do it, but this is my first toyota and I know nothing about it yet!
Thanks!

This might help, it's very close to our newer trucks, just remove the bottom piece first as I describe below:

There are two snaps on the plastic piece below the radio-vent bezel. I remove them by reaching my finger around the inside and popping them out. Remove the ashtray, then pull it straight out and it will snap off. Disconnect the two wire sets going to the accessory jacks and remove it. There is a screw in the ash tray area that needs to be removed in addition to the two under the vent control panel. Once all three screws are out the bezel can be removed by pulling it away from the dash top first, then unplug the two cigarette lighter plugs and snap the ashtray light out. You can see the 4 screws holding the radio bracket in. The bracket can be attached to most aftermarket radios and stores like Circuit City, Best Buy, Good Guys, etc sell a pocket to take up space if your stock radio was a double din and you are replacing it with a single din. Don't forget to pick up a wiring harness adapter, never hack up your cars wiring. For about $6 you can pick up a universal Toyota plug at Wal-Mart that will just plug into the truck, and then you must connect the labeled wires to the stereo's wiring harness. If you don’t want to mess with the wiring, for about $29, you can get a two piece harness adapter that will just plug into the truck and the radio. The first adapter goes from the Toyota harness plug to a "standard" plug, then a second harness goes from the "standard" plug to what ever brand aftermarket stereo you choose, I know Circuit City has these.
