5.4L in a 96 Pony?

would this swap be possible? im thinking of putting a 5.4L truck motor into a 96 cobra. im gonna get a 5.4L Triton or a 48V out of a Navigator. or even better a lightning motor. i wanna know how much it would take to make any of those motors to work. if i only got a N/A 48 Valve, how hard would it be to conver make it work with a full lightning/harley unit? also id like to keep my 5 speed, so would the tranny bolt up? if not what tranny should i look at?

Youd be better off staying with the DOHC. Its been done, 5.4 swap that is, but its going to be a very expensive project.

Hey wish u lived in AUS.Ford have a brand new 5.4L V8 here.It puts out a sweet 290kw and 525Nm of torque.But the crap thing is they dont sell em as crate motors.:rofl::iceslolan

ya, u know i was thinking the same thing, it might be esier to superchare the 4.6 but i wont have anything near as much torque of the lightning motor. and also i like my cars to be different, so the 'wow factor' is also very important, and a 5.4L pony is definatly WOW.

if anyone has a sight that i can look at that has done the swap it would be great

Wow factor? Fuck the wow factor, have you heard about practicality? With a 5.4 4V setup if you want to swap cams you have to pull or raise the motor. If you want to change spark plugs you have to pull or raise the motor. It's a dumb swap, you can make more than enough power with a 4.6, for a lot cheaper than going 5.4. If you stick a lightning motor in your car it is horrible to drive. The blower sticks out of a 4.5" cowl and takes away tons of visibility.
