Yes what it is i just bought a 1996 gst and it will start up and all, but when u rev it to about 2000 or 2500 rpms, it starts knocking real quick and bad (top end) and i caint seem to find out what the problem is! So if u know owuld u tell me, or i know were a older eclipse 1g, head is that i could probly get its the 4g63 head it didnt have a turbo though, and i was wondering if the older 1g head will work for my 2nd gen. If the non turbo head will not work will the 1gen. turbo head fit right on????

The 1g head will work on your 2g, but I would guess it's just something like noisy lifters. Check out http://www.vfaq.com/mods/lifters.html for cleaning, and see if that helps within the first 200 miles.

Really not sure about that one, but I would never have thought of putting anything but 3 heads on my car:
Stock 7 bolt (92+) turbo
Stock 6 bolt... I don't know if turbo/nonturbo heads are different.

The top end knock may be a wrist pin. If it is a tick and not a knock it could be lifters. lifters tend to get quiet as you rev (increase oil pressure). Some knocking noises sound like they're top end, but end up being in the short block. Before you swap the head, I would pull the oil pan and check the bearings (balance shaft bearings can wear and cause a knock too) by turning the crank slowly. You may even hear if it is a wrist pin. If its a tick, clean your lash adjusters. Just some ideas to think about.
