I brought the book about a year and a half ago and it was the first book I read cover to cover non stop.

yep a major Charlie Foxtrot all basicly caused because 1 guy fell on the fast rope.

yeah, but it wasn't really his fault. He was barely on the rope when the chopper had to jink for that RPG, sooooo......

still, with the three guys getting lost, i guess that was a good bit of comedy relief. "I told you not to fire that f*%&ing thing by my head" "DOWN! brrrrrrt!" "Aaah!!" "Ok, got em all, let's go!" ".....WHAT?!"

I just got back from seeing it. It's a very intense movie. There must be no more than 10 seconds in that movie where you don't here gun-fire. I liked it, but it had that sort of shock-inducing feel to it. A whole city against 100 guys. It's just amazing. And at the end 1000 Somalis killed and 19 Americans killed. Just wow! :blinks:

The previews look awesome.

I've heard nothing but good things about the movie, and I really wanted to see it, but it has shown 4 times at the local theatre and its been sold out before I got there every time.

Maybe ill just wait a week.

I checked it out on Friday and it was really good. And frightfully realistic.

which brings em to the point....would you shoot women and children if they had guns? I would.

I cant remeber where i read it, but it talked about how the guys there would just shoot into crowds, becasue it was too hard to pick out the gunmen from the civilians. At first tehy tried, but then others would pick up
oop, found it, from Sim on the WWIIOL forums
"If you read the book, the Rangers and D-boys on the ground killed scores of civilians. It became too 'tough' to pick out the shooters and the ROE went from shoot armed guys who are pointing weapons at you, to shoot guys with guns (though some had just grabbed guns to defend shops from looters) to shoot anyone near a gunman, to shoot at the crowd to disperse them, to shoot anything that moves. There are several accounts of 'twich' reactions leading to the death of non-coms."

I haven't seen the movie yet but I plan on it. The book was really good, I hope they do it justice.

I sure as hell would, if they have guns and my position was taking fire, I have reason to beleave that they could pose a threat to me and my squad, lock um and drop um. I don't care if they are non-coms, they shouldn't be holding guns.

A friend of ours called tonight inviting us to go see it with him, but we couldn't cuz we gotta get up early to head out to work, and we were at the gym when he called...got his voicemail 1/2 hour later. Hopefully he won't go see it without us :p

The problem faced was that once the gunman had been neutalised (shot) someone else would pick up the rifle/gun and continue firing. In situations like that then anyone in the croud would become a potential target and hense why the ROE (rules of engagement) would be changed.

I haven't seen the movie yet (can't wait) but from what I read in the book the situation regarding the civilian actions are simmilar to what took place in the movie Rules of Engagement. Tough situation and you do what you have to do to protect yourself and your buddies.

there is a flaw in your post Gon. IF they are holding a weapon then they are no longer a non-com they are a hostile

sorry just had to point that out
