I'm getting new 2004 se-r specV today and i'd like to put an intake in it. I'm not sure what brand to go with. I was looking at nismo, aem, injen ...etc. I just don't know which will deliver the most hp gain on the se-r specV.

I'd go with Injen. The gain is about the same as the rest but it's by far the best sounding.

well when i went to the injen site they show around 5hp gain and the aem shows around 8.5hp on aem site. injen is also better looking i think...
I dunno if those hp numbers are accurate.

i got an 02 ser non specv and i got the aem cold air. and its made a difference in my car and when u go past 5000 rpm it sounds like v tec. i wouldnt go with the nismo on the intake cuz u can pretty much get the same exact thing with the aem if not better

It easily has the deepest most crisp resonating sound in it piping design. It makes your engine sound like it pumps out way more than 175hp.

I agree with mosspeed1, do not compare the VTEC with the CVTC in the SE-R models. Nissans engines are much stronger. As far as intakes, i'd go with the Nismo for an additional 8.9HP gain and 10.4 ft-lb torque gain. The other intakes only give out half as much.

What do you mean by stronger? Because any B16 or B18 will own the shit out of the new QR25 in terms of power handling and headflow. CVTC is no match for VTEC. If you want a real rival from Nissan, you should be comparing VTEC to NEO VVL. Now THAT'S a real battle.
B18 vs SR20VE!
B16 vs SR16VE!
But as far as sound goes, the B18's don't sound bad, but the B16's sound like shit. The SR20VE is one of the best sounding engines I've ever heard!
