does anyone know the size of the 22 Gal fuel tank ? Length x width x height, Dealer states I have a 22 gal tank but I have never put in more then 12 when gauge was on empty, Fuel gauge now does not work and I need to replace float and pump, dealer can or will not give me the information I request. I'm the 3rd owner and have window stick which shows the super SLT package and everything the SLT package states is on the truck but I feel the tank is smaller then 22 Gal, truck is a 94 Dakota SLT with 194,000 miles :banghead:

I had to replace the plastic 22 gal tank in my 88(it is not cheap!) and afterwards even when I run out of gas it only will take 19.5, go figure. :crying:

I suspect you may have a prob similar to mine... see "out of gas with 5 gal in the tank". It appears that my fuel pump begins to suck air when the fuel level gets to around 5 gal remaining. Fuel pressure is fine at about 40 psi when the tank is full. In the past, it took about 17 gal from the time the dash fuel light came on to fill the tank... now I'm out of gas? I assume the tank is leaking if you want to replace it. In any case, please post what was actually the problem and I would recommend checking the fuel pressure as the pump may be ok and part of the pump intake loose (by the way, I believe it's easier to remove the bed to get to the tank/fuel pump rather than dropping the tank).
