Im pretty sure that their was a zc for your car in Japan. I'm sure some motor companies sell a package for it, which should come with tranny, but if it doesn't you might be able to use your tranny that you have now. Hope i helped!

Yup - should be a bolt in. We got the Si (DOHC non-VTEC) in our EGs as the top of the line option. It came with a D16 something engine (I can't remember the spec) which as just a ZC. As I recollect, the engine drops into other models using the existing mounts etc and all you need is a hydro tranny. Again - ours had the hydro stock so it wasn't an issue.
Putting the Honda history page for EGs through babelfish on www.altavista.com (EG page is here: http://www.honda.co.jp/HOT/ModelData/civic/92cv-k-109a/index.html ), Japan didn't have the ZC/DOHC non-vtec, it had a B16A, SOHC VTEC-E, plus 1500cc and 1300cc twin-carb setups.
I'm guessing Europe might have got the ZC powered version as well as Australia though. I think that aust got the VTEC-E as well, but it didn't have as much power as the Si twin-cam.

VTEC-E is a joke if your after a performance car, great for efficancy trials and thats it.
There was a ZC powered 5g sold here in NZ for a while, and I believe that south america also got a few, as well as a few european countries, but it was never avliable in Japan.
Since the ZC is basicly a D series engine it is a direct bolt up to your current gearbox, and I believe it should use the same engine mounts. Infact im postive it does.
The only thing you need to make it all run perfectly is a ZC ECU.
If your current engine is on its way out then the ZC makes a great cheap replacement, and offers a nice noticable increase in performance.
There are even some Turbo kits still avliable for it, if you really want to go fast.

Sorry Moppie but the ZC Civic was sold in the 5g Si edition, plus special edition models...remember we had this discussion on PH at some stage?;)

Weird that Honda doesn't list it on their history site.

Yeah, I thought these were the NZ models and not the Japanese models?
Just like there was never an injected version of the D15/13 in the 4g civic in Japan, but there was down here, and of course in America.

NZ Model = GTi..although around 94/5 they switched to the SOHC Injected D16

Yeah there are quite a few models and variants missing on Honda's history site..
stick this into the Babelfish translator
http://autos.yahoo.co.jp/ucar/
(BTW Civic is somehow called "ti Bick" on that site)
It has everything for every car sold on the Japanese market.
From 1989 on.

muahahaha... that yahoo site is sooooo wrong in parts :D
I particularly like the part where it doesn't list the '90-'91 SiR :D
Nor does it list the Si (ZC powered 4G) :D
ROFLMAO :D :D :D :D
Somehow I think people would be better putting the Honda Japan History site through Babelfish instead :)

I think you will find that it actually does..
For the 90-91 there are 44 models, there are 20 listed per page and hence there are 3 pages.
As you will see down the bottom right of the Table.. [The next 20 cases]
You will find 4g ZC powered Si is listed on the second page, as well as the 4g SiR..
This site is very well detailed, just a bit of a pain to navigate due to translation, also to get the specs you must click on 'Details' on the right hand side.
to help you here is a direct link to the 2nd page of 90-91 models
put this in the babelfish translator

I hope that clears that one up..

I stand corrected. Still it's not 44 models - more like varients on different models :)

Hmmm... I was wrong - the wheels on my sig pic are factory steels - not the Enkei options :( Ah well, got them on my shopping list anyway :)

First is it a SOHC ZC our a DOHC ZC and what model HB is yours. If your HB is a Si your are set with the tranny and ECU. The p28 ECU will run the SOHC and DOHC just right. The Si tranny is a good tranny to run with both motors. The stock motor mounts will work just fine. Also yes the Hydo tranny will bolt up to the ZC block. GOOD LUCK
