What rear shocks for towing?

Any sugestions to what would be the best shock absorbers I could use for the rear of my 98 Caravan. I plan to tow an ATV trailer. I have seen other Caravans pulling small trailers and the back is really low to the ground. I know these vans where not made to tow much. I dont want to stiffen the ride to much. Any sugestions? (With out spending a fortune?)

I few quads or whatever won't weigh it down that much. I think you should just leave it.

I will be going across the US and will have about 500lbs in the van. I seen a Caravan towing a couple quads and it was real low in the back but then again I dont know what they had inside the van. I really dont want to change the shocks nor do I want a stiff ride. These vans do ride fairly well so I hate to mess that up. I only have one quad and it weighs about 450lbs I will probably have about 300lbs of cargo in the trailer also. The trailer is a snowmobile trailer apx. 7 feet square.

Well you don't want to change shocks, and you don't want a stiff ride, but it seems like a stiff ride is what you'll get. You're trying to make a passenger van tow a trailer, it's not going to ride like a Cadillac. I think you're just going to have to suck it up and accept the fact that it might ride rough, which is probably the best thing to do considering you're not up to changing shocks.

Just tough it out.

Find and install the load leveling system out of a Town and Country, use a load leveling hitch, and:

BUY A CASE OF ATF +3. (just in case) and an extrernal trans cooler.

Or, just live with it.

Install the load-leveling shocks, add both an oil cooler and a tranny cooler and check the entire suspension for any wear. That will give you a little stiffer ride but it will save money in the long run on replacing parts prematurely.

Sounds like good advice. Coolers are always a good idea. I have had alot of diferent advice from auto parts stores. Some want to sell me a gas shock and I think that wont be enough (No real benefit gained) another wants to sell me a truck shock with a coil over and I'm afaraid that will really stiffen the ride.(But the rear probaly woudn't lower!) So I will keep looking around until I'm sure I'm making the right decision.
