I just got off the phone with KrNxRaCeR00. He's trading in his 4 wheels for 2. The Type-R has gone up for sale and he's planning on buying a bike (prolly a CBR) :crying:

That's an extremely bad move in my opinion. Motorcycles lose value rather quickly. Those Type R's hold their value like nuts. If he reads this I hope he considers my message. Heck Type R's are still selling for $20+K in my area.

OK now I know it's hella dumb to sell that Type R. Check out how much this sucker is going for.

About time someone blows your doors off... :p
I also dont understand why he'd sell. If he's in the army then he doesnt need money like RIGHT NOW so....it doesn't add up.

$28,000...my goodness. I think i'm gonna have to call him and talk some sense into him. And on top of that, I never got the chance to race him. The disappointment keeps piling on!

I don't know him and all but that is one bad move. But if he is in the service he probably doesn't want to haul his car all over the place. A bike is a lot easier to take around. Who knows maybe he will get the type r again or even something better or just as good!

Yeah he'll get the Type R again if he has more money then what he sells it for. Those cars are appreciating. Heck they are already considered a collector's item. Man is he making a big mistake. This is akin to selling a Supra after the Fast and the Furious was in theatres.

sorry to post a bit late, but i haven't been on for a while.
ok...so here goes. i just found out my orders and i'll be heading over to the 8th Personel Command in S. Korea (where i will find out where in korea i will be stationed), so i really DON'T have an option. it isn't rational to me to pay $400+ a month on a car that i can't even drive or take w/ me.
the duty flow from korea is to iraq and then back to korea (with 2 week r&r inbetween.) so right now, this simply makes the most sense to me. trust me guys, if i COULD keep it, i would. 97Tsi knows me and how much i love that car. i know wut its worth and i know exactly wut im doing. i understand u guys are going to throw in your :02cents: an thas all good, but there is my side of the story (even tho i don't need to defend my actions  )
btw, im looking at a yamaha r6 not a cbr 97tsi :icon16:
thx for all the opinions tho...i guess...

Motorcycles lose value rather quickly.
Really? In Canada they hold their value like you wouldn't believe. A buddy of mine purchased some bike for 14 grand roughly 5 years ago, and when i last saw him 2 years ago it was worth 12 grand still. Only losing 2 grand over 3 years doesn't sound like fast depreciation to me...Difference in the market places??
Now on to the topic at hand:
I think based on the situation it's a good call. Why the spend the money if you're not getting to enjoy it right? Too bad to hear about, but hey, on to bigger and better things as they say.

I didn't know that you were not going to enjoy the car. In that case sell it. Heck i'd sell a Z06 if I never had a chance to enjoy it. Be careful with the street bike.
