NSX or Skyline

What do you think is an all around better car, NSX-R or Skyline R34, including stock and aftermarket?

NSX-R
2800lbs
MR
V6
3179cc
280hp
224tq

Skyline R34
3395lbs
AWD
twinturbo inline 6
2568cc
276hp
289tq

The NSX R will outperform the skyline in straight line acceleration.

From 0-60 its close cause the skyline is soooo fast off the line, a mclaren f1 could not pull on it from 0-20 mph. But once you reach the quarter mile line the NSX-R will beat it. Simple because it has a much better horsepower to weight ration and it does not loose as much horsepower to the wheels because of the mid engine RW against the all wheel drive system.

The NSX-R will also outperform a Skyline on the track. NSX-R is one of the best performers on the world for the horsepower range it is in.

Aftermarket, the Skyline BLOWS the NSX away. With a simple ECU modification the skyline can get more than 35 WHP.

The Skyline looks like a mean tank IMO and the NSX looks like a supercar.

From my experience, (my experience being best motoring videos, so not that much) the Skyline usually puts the beat down on the NSX, no matter the model.

I would go with the nsx-r

i can see this coming into another solely skyline thread where we compare it to all kinds of cars. so lets try to stay with the nsx vs. skyline and don't bring any other cars into it.

anyways, i would go for the nsx-r beating the skyline on the track. i saw a video of the nsx keeping up with a murcielago. it was pretty crazy.

Stock for Stock, I give the advantage to the NSX-R, not by much thoudh, I but I still think it's a better all around performer than the Skyline GT-R sligthly. Still once we start talking modifying, then in my opinion it's not even a contest. The Skyline is one of the best cars to modify in the world, the same can't be said about the NSX model. Still if I had to choose, I'm going with the Skyline, for AWD, great stock performance, and whole lot of aftermarket potential.

3000ways makes a great point regarding tunability. the nsx will lose in that respect. though the nsx-r is just one badass car. so is the skyline. dammit, it'd give me a headache tryin to choose between these 2. i think i'd go for the nsx-r in the end, but by a slim margin.

nsx r.
not to mention the type s zero.
it's tough though.
put it against a spec v nur, and it's over.

stock for stock, i'd take the nsx, and even mildly modded, i'd take it.

i very much like the skyline, but...
it's a tough call

stock, probably the NSX.

but hey, I couldn't think of owning one of those cars w/o modding them.

in that case the skyline is superior, no question.
mainly for it's RB26DETT and the AWD system I'd say.

skyline has a 90/10 split, its rwd once it catches grip. best of both worlds takes off like awd and keeps going like rwd. i'd actaully say skyline in the 1/4 mile and nsx on track

stock v-spec II vs. stock 03 nsx-r. the nsx-r is on average around 3 seconds faster around sugo circuit. i was surprised to see the new nsx-r being that much faster then the GT-R. beucsae the v-spec II is quit a bit faster then the older 3.0 5 speed nsx-r's.

so stock for stock the nsx-r takes the cake.

for modded, i'll take the gt-r

NSX-R for stock
Skyline for aftermarket

I love how the new nsx looks, even though only minor adjustments were made.

I would say the NSX would have the better stock performence, but I would take the Skyline over the NSX stock or not. Because once you start to put on the performence mods on the skyline, there are few cars in the world that can match its straight line performence. Looking at the handling side, the Skyline's handling stock is very very good just that not as good as the NSX, but if both were to be modded, the skyline I think would out handle the NSX. And oh yea, not ot mention the drivetrain of the Skyline. RWD when you need it AWD when you dont.

other way around, awd when you need it rwd when you don't

i saw that video. have no idea y they would stick an f50 in the game though. thats just overkill.

Comparing them stock it kinda unfair. In every market (except America, where the Skyline has to be specially imported by motorex for around $40,000, on top of its approx $40,000 base price), the Skyline costs much much less then the NSX. I'd bet almost anything that the NSX would smoke the Skyline stock for this reason. However, like everyones been saying, with the money to modify the Skyline, the skyline could take almost anything

er..... u do know that AWD equals endersteer but good acceleratin right? thats y the skylines in JGTC are turned RWD. in handling if both were to be modded all my moneys on the nsx.
True to some extent because it is nowhere near as much as a FWD.The Skyline's ecu moniters the situations the car is in and and according to that mdofies ratio between front rear torque distribution (couple of times every sec) to have the most traction. And also with AWD you get a lot less body roll.

...you get the idea.

i would go for the nsx type R, the type R actually means type racing, and the type s zero n those other nsx's aren't so bad, but maybe a vspec II nur will destroy the type R

Although I'm a HUGE fan of the Skyline, and I'm a Nissan diehard fan for LIFE, and the ATTESSA-ETS is still one of the worlds best AWD systems, being able to go from a 0:100 f/r torque split all to a 50:50 torque split in a fraction of a second is amazing.

But the NSX-R looks better, is PURE RWD, and with Vtec it's gonna have top top end pull, and keeping it NA is still amazing. Honda never fails to amaze me.

I gotta go with the NSX-R if it where a stock race. That is straight line or track. If it where modded I would have to go with the Skyline. That thing is VERY easy modded, like the Supra.
I posted the same thing on the Skyline board, and had SOOOOOO many people laugh at me and tell me that the Skyline punishes every other Japanese car-but then again what do they know?

Thank you Flylwsi "spec v nur" I was just gonna say the Nur would kick the Nsx R's Ass. Your comparing the regular to a modified nsx. The nur would rip it apart and so would a tommy kiara r34. :iceslolan The nsx type zero is pretty sweet though but the Nur rules all except the Mclaren :iceslolan.
