Hi all Modelers
I'm Alex from Brazil! I'm Le Mans(and caind of) dedicated modeler!
I start a progress i houp you enjoy!
Sorry for my bad Inglish!
This is the story:
Two months ago i buy the Scaledesign Porsche 935 square tail transkit!
Well... The transkit is very nice buth needs a extra GT2 from Tamiya as a donate kit!
I decide to do my own 935!
I have two pieces of the Tamiya 935 wo has the correct front buth the tail is rounded!
Look the pictures! This is Stirene material and putty (epoxi) from Tamiya!
I dont have to many pictures from this time be cause i buy a digital camera in that time!!!
Stirene ready glued and putty sanded
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/51047src_2-med.jpg
The stirene tail dont look hight! So i add some putty to correct the shape! Bach more or less simetric!
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/51047src_3-med.jpg
Lot of sanded needed to correct the curves
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/51047src_5-med.jpg
And some top view! The rims are from Tamiya kit!
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/51047src_4.jpg
Feedback are whell come thanks

Thanks for all!
Well lets see more progress! Like I say before theres no reason to do some think like that!
Today Scale design doing a entaire kit! Body, cockpit, you have everthink for a regular price resin kit!
Much less stress and fun short time also, anyway lets see!
When the tail with epoxi look decent to me, I start to thiking in the rear wing
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/51047src-6-med.jpg
Even the wing needs to be modified! Remenber the Tamiya kit is a "works" car this one is client car!
Doing for private tems so lot of modifications are done in the cars by the privates
I fix a litle piece of stirene in the rear grille ( the car I pretend to do, use just one small net in that place)
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/51047scr-8-med.jpg
Also I cover the ventilation roles in the back !
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/51047scr-7-med.jpg
Same time I put some poliester putty inside the fender just to start take a finnish look!
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/51047scr-9-med.jpg
Well all this pictures are not ok! Remenber I just buy the camera in that time! Today I do a lithle progress in potho!
I'm still lurning averyday! Look this one

In N.A. those are called "drip rails", named because they keep liquid from dripping down the roof and into the cockpit.
No, they really don't work and yes they were originally just a way to clean up the roof-to-window frame weld spots without using alot of lead!!!

Look how much material need to added in very sparce botton!

Also I do the front protection(1mm thick)! Not included in the kit!

Very Excellent work so far. No one can call you a model assembler, your definately a builder. If you want a donor kit for a motor I suggest the AMT 945. After this much bodywork I kind-of doubt you would want to cut the bonnet to open

Hi !!! Im back with this long...tread!
Whell after travelling to USA last week and cant buy any model :(
Lets see some progress!
This Naca ducts are a pain!
First I draw de ducts using the PE naca with index!
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/51047scr-37-med.jpg
After that I start to drill the holes
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/51047scr-38-med.jpg
Cut off all the material using this very good Tamiya knife
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/51047scr-39.jpg
The result is good for me...
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/51047scr-40-med.jpg
And glued the PE naca in place!
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/51047scr-41-med.jpg

After that I start to drill the holes

Cut off all the material using this very good Tamiya knife

Thanks for all the modellers who are giving feedback and watching this tread to!
Mag,
thanks for the compliment!
The 2 on the hood were simply thinned to scale using needle files. The 2 on the read deck (above the rear wheels) were thinned and enlarged and sheet styrene was used on the flat portion at the back of the duct to better replicate the thin body and to square the back edge opening.
The NACA ducts on the F50 GT1's rear decklid and top of hood are scratchbuilt.

DOH!
Sorry, Here's the process I used to do the front fender exhaust louver panels.
1. Rescribe the lines deeper, almost cutting through the plastic.
2. Use a cordless Dremel with the sanding drum attachment to thin the panel from underneath.
3. Use needle files and hobby knives to ensure that the louvers are equal and to scale thickness.
The F50 GT1 is scratchbuilt using the Tamiya 1:24th as the base kit. As for a hard time..HECK YES! LOL, Especially when someone here posts a new reference picture and you then have to go back and change something!!!
I have no idea how many days total, but I've been working on this one for a few years.
Thanks for the kind words and keep up the great work!
