Airbrush Cleaning

can i clean my airbrush with turps or metho, i only use arcrylics but they are still hard to wash out with water (especially the colour cup) and tamiya thinner is to expensive to use, i have just starting using the airbrush. I use hot soapy water and spray it through the airbrush .Thanks.:)

You might have to take the airbrush apart each time and give it a full cleaning. You'll be suprised how much paint is still in the airbrush even if it's spraying out clean water.

Thanks i just took the nozzel out and cleaned inside i'm just worried about the nozzel cloging up on me.:confused:

I use Automotive lacquer thinners to clean my airbrush. its £3.50 for a 5 litrre tin, and the last tin has served me for the last 6 months.

AS previously suggested, it might be advisable to disassemble the airbrush periodically to clean it thouroughly, though.

...Remove any rubber seals/plastic etc. before immersing it in anything as strong as lacquer thinners though, or they'll either rot or melt!!!
