I have a 99 Cherokee with Automatic Tranny. Sometimes when starting off from a stop, i depress the pedal a certain amount, the jeep will gain speed, seem to platueu, and then gain speed at a faster rate, all without increasing the throttle. This leads me to believe something must not be tuned right on the engine... Any ideas? Thanks

I have a similar problem-
(86 Cherokee, 5sp. Manuel. 2.5L 4-cyl, Comandtrac)
My jeep sputters, and when i let up off the gas, i get power. it runs, then after 2 seconds it will rattle down, then kick back up, sometimes it will stall. I cant get it up to speed without pumping the pedal fast, which im sure is terribly bad for the car, but i do a paper route and have no other choice.
I am having my mechanic come check my jeep out tomorrow, if he finds something out, i will post here, maybe it will help you too.

ended up being my whole throttlebody :(
($433.00 discounted at kragen autoparts, $24.00 at junkyard)
also had to replace my fuel pressure regulator.
