what is the correct way to rotate tires on a FWD car?

Mine rotate all by themsleves. See the engine drives the transmission, either manual or automatic, which in turn drive the half shafts, each one drive its own independent wheel. this rotates the wheels round and ound causing you to go forward......
Actually it only matters if you have directional tires. Some people say front to back(directionals must be done this way, can also do non-directionals this way), some say in an X figure (no directionals only). I have always done the X, but it doesn't matter as long as you are happy.

I think you'll find that most tire folks will opt for the "Mod X" pattern - drive tires stay on the same side, freewheeling tires cross.

I agree that is how it is usually done, if you want a diagram or picture, try looking on the internet.
