I wanted to know of all you that have put a sound system w/ amps into the malibu's, how did you or the install shop run the power cable through the firewall to the rear of the car or where ever you placed the amp itself? :banghead:

I did put an amp in my malibus trunk. If you take the trim piece under the drivers side, the piece that is by the diagnostic port you will see a lot of wires running through. I cut a small hole through the rubber seal piece and ran my power wire throught there. From there i ran the power wire under the door trim pieces that are on top of the carpet. THen when you get to the back seat (at the top) you feel around back there and you will find a hole which you can run your wire through to your amp.
If you need more help ask me

My amp's in the trunk as well. Hid the power cable inside the trim on the drivers side. I wasn't there when the guy installed my power cable, but I think he had to drill a hole to get it through. Whatever works, I guess.

THy probably ran the power through your firewall right under or behind the fuse relays, somewhere around there is that rubber plug.

Check my car out to see how I did my amp install.

How did you shave the trunk?

How did you shave the trunk?

Needed Items/Tools:

Hair Dryer
Fishing Line/Dental Floss
Bug and Tar Remover
Cloth/Towel
Wax

1- First pull off about 2 ft or so of the fishing line or dental floss, and set it on top of the trunk. I personally used fishing line because the floss kept breaking.

2- Next using the hair dryer on high heat the emblem, but DO NOT hold the hairdryer in one place as this will damage the paint. Do circular motions to heat the emblem up.

3- Once the emblem is loose take the fishing line or floss an stick it between the car and the emblem. Then use a sawing motion back and forth until you have popped the emblem off.

4- Use the Bug and Tar Remover on the leftover tape

5- Last cover where the emblem was with wax because it doesn’t have a clear coat over it to protect it.

If you need more info just email me or post in this forum.

i ran mine up from battery to top of hood near windsheild then droped it down till i hit the rubber insulation for the wiring going from down to the body.. after that it was pretty much behind the e brake release and i ran along the trim till i hit back seat.. in which case i took out the bottom part of back seat (really easy only 2 clips holding it in place) and ran wire in under backrest. the wire didn't effect the release or anything and i was quite amazed
