Ls/VTEC my friend...find the head of a B16A then get a shop or you can look online for a step by step thing if your a DIY kinda guy to put the B16 head onto the ls block by yourself...you'll get decent gains...but if I had an Ls boost would be the way to go IMO...

you can keep the ls tranny but it might not work as well with the gsr as the actual gsr tranny would, but yes it is possible, um, in addition to the engine you would need a new ecu as well, you can use the same shift linkage and axles..... and other than running extra wire for the vtec (from the ecu) you should be money. but i would try and get a gsr tranny, it would probably accelerate faster and would be stonger overall.

just curious , how much of a difference does it make with an ls/vtec when it comes to the vtec head ?? i mean i hear alot of people talking about b16 heads ... but wouldnt you get more performance out of a GSR or type R head ??

mmm. ls/vtec would cost alot less, and a properly done ls/vtec can beat a slightly modded GSR. If you do do the ls/vtec make shure it is done right, and don't try and tap the oil yourself, that is what gives this mod a bad name, becasue it ends up leaking oil when not done by someone who knows what they are doing. If you go GSR motor I would say get the GSR tranny as well. It will work better with that motor, but none the less the ls tranny will work if you are tight on cash. But if you are really that tight on cash you should do the ls/vtec. it is lots cheaper than a full motor!

Well the b16 head is just the easiest to come by, and is usually a bit cheaper than the GSR, and alot cheaper than the Type R. Really the b16 is the same head as the type R with different cams, and the type R has a better port and polish. But as far as just a straight swap, you will proabably see a tiny bit more power with the GSR head, but not much. And of course the Type R would give more power!

scallywag what do you mean by taping the head does the b16a head need a oil gally drilled to work with the b18b block
