Use your head. If you drive like that every day obviously it is going to put more wear and tear on your motor than if you drove like a granny.

I wouldn't say its *bad*. But i'm sure it will have some type of negative effect in the long run.
Then again...your car wasn't made to be a full on race car. If you're gonna drive like that all the time, i would suggest investing in building your head (no pun intended).

I know Toda makes those Vtec Killer cams that keep vtec on all the time so I'd assume it can't be "too" bad. Still; having your engine in high RPM's for that long without a break would probably cause problems down the line. I'd say at the very least make sure you check and change your oil regularly, and watch your oil temp gauge.

It's not really that crazy, the lobes are all the same size, so there's no actual switchover to bigger lobes when the ecu engages vtec.

I would think that would make the engine choke at lower RPMs? Too much fuel?

haha i've ran in vtec (6000-8000rpm) for over 20 min before out on this sweet, curvy, hilly wisconsin road, (22 miles long) and i haven't had any trouble. and i've done this about 3 times on this same road. I notice that i burn about a pint of oil when i do this although.... and my motor has 140,000 miles on it so i'm not complaining. yah your fine... don't worry about it, if honda set your redline were they did, they did because they knew your motor could take it. I mean its not going to last as long as granny's gsr will, but heck, whats the fun in that.

I used to run my b16a into the rev limiter on a daily basis for the 2 years I had it. It never once gave me any trouble except for some slightly exagerated wear on the rotor and dizy cap. But then thats to be expected, 8,000rpm is going to push the limits of any ignition system.

:werd:
its just to tempting to not hit it at least once a day ... i used to hit max speed at least twice a week for about 3 months before i got my new job ... just keep up the maintnance on it and you should be straight ...

sweet your motor wont last as long as somone who rags the crap out of it all the time when you granny it all the time you are not burning all the carbon out of it and it is just building up in you head.
