How much of a diff could a good upgrade in tires be for my cars accel and handling? What kind of tires would u guys recommend for my 240?

umm i dont think they will give u accel, but handling fo sho. it all depends on what ur rollin with now and how bald ur tires are

they will help with your takeoff and subside the shift chirps-more traction between shifts.

If theres one thing that needs to be good on a car its the tires.

Kuhmo Ecsta MX (Grippy cheap tire, with a soft sidewall for the street and ive heard grat things about them for the cost)
Yokohama AVS ES100 (friend had these on his old prelude and the stuck like glue)
Bridgestone S03PP (the S2K autocrossers swear by em but $$$)

Falken Azenis - the ones where the tread pattern looks like scales

tires can definitely make or break your car in the end. i mean, think about it. which part of your car actually has contact w/ the road? as you know, there are a ton of tires out there to choose from. for daily driving, most will do fine. but if you want real performance, then look to shell out at least 200 for each tire. really, it's only once the car is driven to its limit ( depending on speed, sharpness of turn, weather conditions, etc) that the differences in the tire brands really shows.

I just bought some toyo proxxes fz-4's and they are pretty awesome. Great traction on takeoff and pretty good handling. On stock rims also. I have yet to try them at the track but I will be there tomorrow.

I have goodyear Eagle F-1's on mine, not to pricey but they made a huge difference.

If you take off some of your side wall with bigger wheels you will get less wall squirm, that makes a huge difference on the on ramps ;)

Tires are probably the most important upgrade if you care even a little about the way the car handles.

Kuhmo Ecsta MX and Falken Azenis Sport are usually the best bang for the buck. If you plan to autocross SCCA, the Falkens will keep you out of the "sticky" category. If you dont care or want to run with modified or stock classes, the Kuhmo is a good bet.
If you want to drift (good for you) then that is a different story entirely...

I would like to try and drift and learn how to. That's one reason i came to buy the 240. What tires would i look into for something like that?

any tires can be used to drift. Some make it easier than others. Tires won't make you learn how to drift...try upgrading some power first and then work on the tires...expect to go through tires like oil. Go get some cheap ass used tires first and learn with them. Once you get better and have more money work on the performance tires....go by steps and not waste your money on getting great ass tires that you will destroy in a day....
