do you have the engine call letters? It would be easier to tell you if we knew...I don't know much about the 626s.

first of all, are your a V6 or a I-4? If you are a 6 cyl, then you will want to go with an engine called the KLZE. It is a 2.5L engine found in J-Spec MX-6s and Milennias. It pushes 197hp and 160lbs-ft of torque. The swap is relatively bolt-on if you have all the right parts for the swap. It is a fairly simple one to do so I have heard. I will find out myself later this year. If you put the KLZE in your car, then you can keep your VAF ( it has a JE50 code on it) and you will need to get youor computer either reprogrammed, or purchase a KL31, or KL36 computer. They will run you around 400$ and can be found on eBay, or if you call around and ask garages. Another thign to note, is to make sure you get a Curve-Neck Intake Manifold, because the long neck one doesnt fit easily. That can cost you around 200$ but you can sell the IM you get on the engine and try to break even. Pricewise, this swap will cost you around 2500-3500$ depending on what happens. So far Im guessing mine will cost around 3500 but that is because I want to change my whoel fuel system as well as put as many new parts as possible.
If you have the 4 Cyl., then the BPT is the most common engine swap. It has around 200hp. I dont know much about the swap, but it is a stock turbo engine. Which is kinda cool.

the bp-t, I believe, is a direct swap as well as the KLZE. You might have to change one or two of the motor mounts, and you'd also have to run piping for the turbo stuff. e.g. intercooler piping. it is a little under 200 hp, i think like 198, and it's 2.0L...i think. Not sure about the liter. This swap will cost you a little more than the KLZE, jsut because you're going to need to change your clutch, and maybe your tranny, not sure though.

I suggest changing your clutch for either swap... the KLZE will turn your GS clutch into mush

I guess, you would want to...but, I meant you'd probably need to get a different kind of tranny. I don't know about that knd of stuff though?

You can swap your tranny, but you dont need to.
