Hey people 2 nights ago I raced a Porsche Boxster convertible manual trans, and we were neck to neck. It was a New one. Has anyone raced one of them. I have a 1995 Nissan Maxima GXE stock. I checked the stats. Stats as follows.

boxster is an underpowered piece, unfortunatley its a porsche so it still finds a way to be quick and nimble

I seriously doubt the validity of the ose stats because auto mags tend to have incredible german car bias. Any magazine u look at would make u think that a maxima is a slow unsporty car, but im sure everyone one on this forum knows that isnt true. The best way to tell is race another one.

i beat a porsche boxster back when my car was new and stock .. and i have ran side by side another one a few times( years later). But looking at the stat of 14.6 yikes, that would make you think a stock 4th gen would get spanked. my guess is off the line the maxima hangs or best the boxster but maybe we get our cans kicked in 3rd gear ?

Easy good shifting and a quarter thank of gas, since i just got laid off. LOL But thought to my self that i was gonna get my ass handed over to me. But we were side by side the whole time. I was doing a research online 1995 and 1996 Nissan maximas a faster than 1997-1999.
Car-Stats.com Report for 1996 Nissan Maxima GXE
Obtained from Web November, 2001
0-60: 6.5 Transmission: Manual
1/4 Mile: 14.9
1/4 Speed: 93
So overall if you are planing to buy a Maxima for speed. 1995-1996 GXE is what your looking for.

GLE's don't come 5 speed. gxe's and se's do.
95's and 96's are faster because they are obd-1, which means they are less restricted by emissions standards. but only 1996 models made before a certain date (i think it's february 28th '96) are obd-1 the rest are obd-2. obd-2's also don't respond to mods as well for the same reasons.

My car was made in 3/96 and it's OBDII so there probably aren't very many OBDI '96s.
