We have an intermittant hard shift into reverse gear. Have to speed up engine for reverse to engage. Otherwise xmsn runs smooth. Something simple to fix or overall?

A few things... have you changed your tranny filter / fluid lately??
Another thing... have you examined your motor mounts? Maybe its the engine moving making al of that racket?!?! Just a thought.... let us know so that we can possibly help a little more.

Fluid & Xmsn fluid is fine.
Not motor mounts.
Problem sounds like hard engagement internal to xmsn.

sounds like the reason you have to give it gas to get it in the gear (if i am reading this right) is because you may have a leaking pressure seal inside the trans. May be a piston, amy be something else. I think I would take this to a trans shop!

Thanks for the advice. You are probably right that it needs a transmission shop expertise.

7/31/04 - Took it to smsn shop and they said needed a rebuild for $2000. After 3 weeks this problem went away. The xmsn runs fine now. I think something was sticking inside transmission and eventually came unstuck.

Transmission shops suck ass!
I was told six months ago that my transmission would lock up and become worthless if I drove another hundred miles unless I gave them $600.
That was six months and 11,000 miles ago and I haven't had a problem since. Go figure.
