I just added a few upgrades to my car and I got about 350hp. I wanna add heads, cam, and headers. The packaged I want says it adds 140hp. I am just curious how much hp the car can handle before I would need to put a new rear end and drive shaft in it. So, anyone hear have any ideas?

well 490hp would be pushing pretty hard how much torque you pushing im assuming you had it dyno tested some different gears in the rear might give you the power you want

What have you done to get your car to about 350 hp?? Do you have a steel or aluminum driveshaft??

It was at 320hp and then I added a ram air system, mass air flow sensor for cold air intake, air foil, and flowmasters. I am just guessing about the 350hp, but i think that is about right. The drive shaft is the stock one.

Stock driveshaft, steel or aluminum though?? Your rear end might be ok, as long as you dont drive the piss out of it. If you can hook up real well and have drag slicks, thats when lots of power and rear ends can be a problem.

Reason I ask about the driveshaft is because the steel one should hold up but the aluminum one might twist.

I have seen the stock rear break on mostly stock cars, and have sen them hold up on Modded cars. It really depends on the rear and the way you drive on it.

I have a Moser 9" with a locker after breaking my stocker!
