If so how much was the fine and did you get thrown in jail for a day? i heard if you go above wreckless and a certain point they charge you by the mile per hour, not sure. Also did they restrict/suspend your license after that?? Street racing is fun but I'm so paranoid that when I am going to go over 90 mph the cops will catch me and I will be in a deep shithole

I think it depends on the speedlimit. In my area( not sure about others) if you double the speedlimit, its a felony and you go to jail... now if you get on the interstate and get caught doing 115 in a 70, I think its just a hefty fine, but there wouldn't be any jailtime involved.

I was pulled over by a motor cycle cop for doing 90 in a 35 on the street. First thing he asked me while walking up to the car was "Do you want to go to jail, boy!?". He was ... uhm... slightly pissed. I said "No sir!" and he said "If you tell the truth and don't bullshit me I'll let you go, how fast were you going?" "90", "What was the speed limit back there?!" "35", "Have a good day, beautiful car, don't speed like that ever again!"

I get off of every pull-over because of the car... old cops in their mid-life crises get off on old muscle cars.

I've been pulled over 4 times in the last year... not one ticket.

1st time - 55 in a 50 (he just wanted to talk about the car I'm pretty sure)

2nd time - 75 in a 45 on the street. He gave me a warning and again, complimented the car

3rd time - motorcycle cop. Thought I was gonna get time, ended up with a compliment

4th time - "Pulled over" by an undercover cop in a white taurus. He saw me showing off my new "unofficial 0-60 time" infront of my girlfriend. Asked me why I would "do such a stupid thing". I responded with "'Cause I'm stupid?" Wasn't a good response... but I laughed anyway. He proceeded to ask me if him calling out a cop car would make my day. I just shrugged. Stupid... would turn into a word against mine type of thing.

cops seem to hate imports more than domestics (most of em are white males who are discriminatory). So far all of my friends who drive imports have gotten tickets and the cops have shown no slack whatever and try to book em for the maximum amount of infractions they can. (case in point my friend who was drivin a 240 got pulled over for a loud exhaust and gutted cats, another one b/c he was going 33 in a 25, sis went 70 in a 55). While my friend in his firebird speeds to try to make a right, oversteers and goes over the damn curb, gets nothing. Cop let him off, he said "I know how fast these things can be, I had an older V8 stang" then my friend was like "uh, i got a V6..." Cop still let him off.

All I know is it seems like domestic owners get off a lot easier than import owners, and cops seem to be meaner towards import (or persons of another race) and try to get all the offenses they can

Dunno... I didn't think it was a domestic thing overall... 'cause some of my friends have been ticketed in newer domestics. Also known import guys who have been let off or ticketed.

Not pointing fingers or insulting imports... (just the owners) but I see more rice (as in, actual slow rice with huuuuuge wings) swerving in and out of traffic and being asses 'cause they've just seen 2 fast 2 furious than I do guys in old muscle cars or domestics driving like lunatics. I'm sure they're out there... but I see more rice being stupid than anything else.

Clean imports that I've seen around here don't mess around though... and hence don't get into trouble. The crummy ricemobiles just give everyone a bad rep. It's a shame.

Imma agree on that. I always see that idiotic Cavalier with the exhaust that tries to win size over the wing getting pulled over after trying to do a stunt in f&f or 2f2f.

I was doing 110 on 880 once heading towards Oakland when I came up on this White Camaro. So I was thinking, "Hmm, maybe he'll give chase and we'll have some fun!" Well, I changed lanes and just as I was about to blow past him goin 40+ over the speed limit, I saw what appeared to be a thin ski rack with pretty red and blue lights on it! Once It clicked that I was about to be buried knee-deep in shit if I didn't slow down, I got on my brakes pretty hard. And as I sloooowly pulled past the camaro, that cop gave me the dirtiest look ever.

After that, I stopped speeding for about two days.... :icon16:

So yea, don't blow the doors off of cars on the freeway. Not good.

On a side note, Police in my area have started using Corvettes, Camaros, and Dodge Intrepids(?) as Interceptors. You Gotta watch out for multiple shapes now when speeding.

LacrosseGuy

watch out for DT(detective cars) these are never marked but arent that hard to spot. They always have window tints and are usually white or black. Most of the time they have a few antenas wich are a dead give away. The easiest way to tell is the license plate, here in NY they have K or L than the number or laters, and under everything they say official. These can be any kind of car and really fast ive seen a black GTP and a white Z28 here on Long Island as well as many others (including a taxi cab!!!).

Well where I live they past a law if you get caught street racing you go straight to jail, you get a ticket, and you get your car impounded. Well one night I was being stupid and I raced this other car from a stop light, after that I turned onto the same street as he did and chased him and I was weaving in and out of traffic at about 60 and the speed limit is 40. I pulled into the right lane to get behind him and I see this car swerve in right behind me and I see that its a cop so I'm like oh crap the cop flips on her lights and pulls me over. I'm thinking I'm going to jail she comes up to me and says WTF is your problem and took my license checked it came back and said if I ever catch you doing that again I will throw your ass in jail. So I think wow I'm gonna get off with just a ticket but no I got off without a ticket. Since then I have been terrified to race anybody, that experience has taught me a lesson that its not worth going to jail over.

possibly a the dumbest question ever...but exactly what is a police interceptor, i mean what do they do or what can they do???

-Jayson-
05-25-2004, 11:44 AM
police interceptor is a cop car, got flash lights and loud siren. When then get behind you with those things on you need to pull over to the side of the road. usually means you were doing something illegal in your car. Most are Frod Crownvics.

Well, i wasn't in mph i was in km/h but i was caught doing 97 in a 50 zone blowing the doors off a 4 banger '86 Accord automatic.

The only ticket i was ever pulled over for, 254 bucks if i remember right. I was actually going faster then '97 when he pointed me out, good thing he didn't keep clocking me!

In wisconsin if you get caught doing 25 mph over the speed limit the cop takes your license on the spot and you get a ride home in the cop car. Not to mention the 170+ dollar fine. Most cops around here drive crown vic's, impallas, or intrepids.

landyacht
05-25-2004, 01:40 PM
I should add i had 3 other people with me and still winning!

The result in Alberta (where i was when i got the ticket) is if you're doing double the speed limit or more and the fine is at the cop's discretion and your license is cut in half.

Then they tow your car, you have to re-take your driver's test, pay all the fines and you have 4 of 6 points on your license.

Me, i got away with 2 points and the fine.

The joys of being younger and a little more foolish!!

So they can pull you over if your speeding???

Igovert500
05-26-2004, 11:16 AM
any cop can pull you over, even off-duty(I think) it doesn't matter what they are driving.
As far as racing, down here they ticket you for as many infractions as possible, fine the hell out of you, can suspend you license, and impound your car, and take you to jail. It is really up to the cops discretion. If you are at street races, they can do all the same punishments just for watching the races.

That whole statement of cops are picking on imports is pure bullshit. If you are pulled over, chances are you REALLY DID DO something wrong. It may have been a minor thing to you, but in WA State, you can even be pulled over for not wearing your seatbelt.

I did a simple U-turn in Redmond in my '96 Camaro SS Convertible (complete with 160ft of rubber) unknowingly in front of a cop and he threatened to throw me in jail on the spot.

Oh, and here's the penalty for Reckless Driving in WA State. BTW, you will get this for more than double the speed limit.

- Criminal Offense
- Automatic License Susp. for 90 days
- Driving Safety Education Class
- 1 year in Jail (max)
- $5000 Fine (max)

For my Reckless Driving that I got that day, with a clean driving record and no arrests, this is what I got for my U-turn.

- 2 Years Probation (driving AND criminal)
- $1000 Fine
- 30 Days in Jail (suspended)
- 90 Hours of Community Service
- Driving Safety School Level 2
- All this to have the charge reduced to a Neglegent Driving 2 Charge. Good thing I live in Japan now.

And at the time I was 28 Years old and a Systems Engineer at Microsoft. So YES, cops will nail you (and so will the courts) no matter who you are.

The car you saw might not be a cop car.
Ford used to offer the "Police Interceptor" package on Crown Victoria to the public, which has police interceptor badge at the rear.
And if a person is a cop, he/she can pull you over, 24/7.

jesus all of you are lucky. I got a recklass ticket for spinning a tire in a parking lot. Ticket was $550, and an additional $100 for county fines. they passed a new law where if you hav ea wreck or a ticket its an auto $100 to the county in addition to court fees. Also for the rest its $100 for every ten minutes a cop is there or an ambulance, max is 1 grand. And I once got pulled for going 85 in a 45. Got a ticket went to court. the judge dismissed the case, nicest judge Ive ever met. I told him my circumstances and why I was rushing so fast. He gave me pity and I got off. I havent sped since.

But then again I know someone who was caught street racing and all he got was a big ticket.

I've got a nice little story for yall. A guy at my dad's shop was telling me about his friend who got arrested for some serioius shit. Ok here's how it goes. A cop was sitting on the side of the road clocking people who went by and he was taking a little shut-eye when he's radar went off and and it said 150mph. He was like WTF? So he took it to the police station and he said it was broke, they said no the hell it wasnt somebody was really doing 150mph. He went back out that night and had a road block setup.

He was sitting in the car and all the sudden he heard a quick noise and his radar beeped. It said 170mph. So he radioed to his road block to turn there sirens on. They caught the guy and it was a black Lamborghini with a set of extra mufflers on and they had there lights off. They Lambo driver had night vision goggles on and he was smuggling 2 pounds of coccaine in the trunk.....uh hood....... Yeah, he's happy ass was takin to jail and the police impounded his car and sold it. Nice.

All these things are why im glad i drive the camry. 1. I can floor it at a stoplight and not catch a wheel 2. a gray late 80's camry doesnt exactly draw attention and 3. I cant even go 100!

I think they either had a road block or a spike strip. They didnt "catch" him, but they just made sure he didnt get past them. Lol, yeah i'm not too sure a cop car can do 170-180mph. What ARE they limited too like 130? I heard they have a real low gear? Not sure.

Got caught in a trap at a race spot in Dallas last year watching some street races. The cops blocked off all the exit to this industrial area where about 250 cars were racing and spectating. The cops had all the cars line up and they gave EVERYBODY tickets. About 120 dollars if I remember correctly. It's funny now, not so much back then!!!

thats stinks did u get any points??? i always wondered that.... but anyway one time we were at a race and i guess its kinda like urs but theres only like two exits and everyone said that the cops only come in on the one entrance where the racers stop the race at and so one night i dont know i had this weird feeling so i kept telling my friend to keep an eye on the other entrance .. and in a matter of tens mins. a cop like speeding and fishtailing came flying in but me and my friend ran to my car and somehow got out, almost ran over like 40 people running street in the car. the other time we were stuck smack dab in the middle of the race and everyone yells and starts running and theres cars in front of me in back of me to both sides and huge curbs........somehow got out of that toooo!!!!!thank god!!!!lol

Me myself never been caught though the odds now of me not being caught is 1.00
